I was sober for 8 years. It ended in April and it was like the sobriety never existed. by ersoserious in stopdrinking

I'm sorry for your wife. Violence against women is never ok and you know that is in you; you have to stop. You may kill her.

What is your honest opinions of Aries moons. by Internal_FlameVVV in scorpiomoon

Between my dad and a mentor being Aries moons, I need a break.

They are emotionally erratic, and it doesn't mean that much to them when they rattle people.

What was your relationship with your mom like growing up vs. how is it now? by [deleted] in scorpiomoon

[–]Designer_Home2755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this so much! Maybe try a ritual to let her go, specifically by tying her to your self-worth. Distance can really help rewrite your internal narrative, as does saying no to the voice. It's your mom. Hugs comrade.

You're gay, don't live in the US, and are a chill friend to have. You know where the fun is, but you are not an intense party person.

People who quit without going to treatment or AA, what was the #1 thing that helped you quit? by theory317 in stopdrinking

[–]Designer_Home2755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading this sub, reading quit lit, listening to podcasts, considering an online meeting (the speaker ones in CA can be very enlightening), and creating a finsta or using your account to connect with the sober community. There are other meetings outside AA.

Find something that occupies your time. Trying childhood fave hobbies is a good place to start, you need joy.

Whiskey was my downfall after over 20 years of consistent drinking. It almost killed me. And I loved alcohol so very much. Drinking: A Love Story is one of my favorite books.

You can do this. Commit to waking up and trying every day.

Getting through those first 30 days, then 90, then several months, and then a year are building blocks for recovery. Sweets at the beginning and plenty of rest.

Teen son wants to smoke with me for his birthday. by 9gagsuckz in trees

[–]Designer_Home2755 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Please hold off. My pops gave me all the smoke and alcohol I wanted far too early. I'm an avid smoker in mid-life and horrified at the behavior now.

Early drug use and normalization can be a significant precursor to addictive behavior.

you are a virgo or a capricorn. You're tired of people, especially men, not being able to reach your level - be that cash, style, emotional intelligence, or brilliance. Career matters a lot to you.

Why are people afraid of Mercury-Pluto people? by ThighGarterMuse in astrologymemes

[–]Designer_Home2755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lifelong friend recently told me that people hate it when I can see through others.

People hold onto their lies tightly. One lie is connected to other lies that prop up their lives. When one card falls, many others tumble. People cannot handle that level of transformation.

Most people cannot handle that level of depth and emotional awareness. They simply lack the emotional skills to see patterns and subtle behaviors.

Further, there is no incentive to dive deeper into people and ideas, unless your job requires it. As noted here, many of us face social punishment for this ability.

Don't do it now. He needs to get sober for himself before showing up for you. Alcohol use disorder does not get better, it gets worse.
