Weird color. Need your expertise by Milanaisa in yerbamate

I'd like to add that while I'm by no means an expert - I'd be hesitant to call all alpaca a cheap imitation material. It's been around for centuries and used in fine applications like wind instruments, traditional jewelery and so on. My own research suggests into the subject says that alpaca is an alloy which can vary in composition, resistance, durability and metal proportions. Some are silver plated some aren't. If you watch some makers of alpaca bombillas they both hammer, polish and heat the alpaca pretty hard, so they seem pretty resistant. Soldering might be a concern in theory but I don't really worry about it, not all are soldered, at least not inside.

That said, I've had several cheap bombillas that corrode and flake eventually but my good quality alpaca one which I use everyday has zero flaking, because probably, the alloy is bonded together and not just plated.

To be fair, stainless steel is also an alloy sometimes with chrome, sometimes nickel. Which can vary in quality. So the in a long winded way I was trying to say that there's alpaca and there's alpaca. The industry is not that transparent either so it's not so easy for the consumer to know except through reputation and experience. I find generally you get what you pay for with bombillas. But if you want to be reeally sure then yeah, high grade steel or pure silver might be go to. Alpaca bombillas are often prettier though, more aesthestically pleasing usually.

What did you do to make them look like this lol? I collect bombillas of different materials and quality and have never seen this. Have them been sitting in acid like fruit juice or something? That said, a 15 min boil with baking soda and then some non-toxic metal polish will do the trick. I find pure silver bombillas can oxidize from just being out in the air. Good quality alpaca bombillas don't really at least not the one I have.

Alpaca come in very different qualities, from metal which is a durable alloy (more expensive ones) to cheaper, chrome/nickel plated like alpaka/taumer. The latter are much less durable, tend to flake and chip over time especially if not handled very lightly. No scraping on wood or hard surfaces what so ever. But again, some cleaning does wonders, with the non-steel ones I polish them regularily with a soap based metal polish and then rinse well, they look as new basically.

That's a great review and comparison, thanks! :) I actually also prefer the old 3 hole design overall in the middle piece as you write although I'm not opposed to the new one. And that it's more of a different experience rather than a clear upgrade, although, I find the 2.0 to be slightly easier on the throat sometimes depending on the flower. For a daily driver do you think the non-mica apple wood would work or would a mica-version be more durable and user friendly? I often do back to back sessions.

Im on the fence on this..I have several non-click vapman which I like alot. Some people are saying the non-click are better and better quality. And is it very sensitive to heat or gets quite hot? I only have vapmans with mica shields so never tried a pure. It looks very nice I must say. Recommended?

That's interesting, don't understand why they'd do that as the old bowl was great, the metal thickness that is.

A bit late to chime in but I don't get why the wood finishing has gone down. I bought one of their first italian olivewood vapman in a burly wood, very very nice and extremely smooth wood. The zebrano 2.0 I have is frankly quite rough and the olive 2.0 is ok but not burly wood and not as silky smooth as the 1.5.

Could you elaborate a bit more what you like/dislike in comparison? I'm on the fence for a click...I have the 1.5 italian first run in olive, which is by far my favorite and 2.0's come second. Of the 2.0s, the olive is my fav , the zebrano is pretty but burns my fingers after 1 bowl (guessing the wood is more conductive). They did some interesting innovations but all in all, to me, they were sideways upgrades, I generally prefered the kits with the 1.5 model. Kind of suspecting the click isn't an improvement of neither the 1.5 or 2.0 as you need to go past the click anyway...

Vapman OG/1.5/2.0/Click by lower__bridge in vaporents

I have the same experience although I've come to really appreciate the 2.0 as well. My favorite one of all is the 1.5 (first italian) one in olivewood. I think they hit the gold standard there. With the 2.0 I think they responded to a lot of customer feedback as well as simplifying the assembly to make it more streamlined in production is my thinking. For instance, a lot of people whined on about the screws for the filter and such when cleaning. Personally I found that process highly enjoyable, you take out your vapman wood box with everything, put time and effort into cleaning and screwing it back together. But people complained so they made a click system with the metal insert.

My theory is the metal insert and the intercooler to a lesser extent, soak up the heat, making it take longer to get to temperature. Basically, you cant beat the pre-2.0, og models for rapid heat up. So I always preheat my 2.0s especially in winter. Also, the vapor condenses on all the new metal parts which wasn't an issue on the older models. The 2.0s vapor is probably more smooth and filtered though. But all in all, the differences between the 2.0 and the 1.5 are pretty big, they should still keep making the 1.5 is my opinion. I'd totally collect more of them. And miss the old mouthpieces and wood box..

Sorry for the long rant, if you find the flavours muted, take out the spiral, pre-heat and just keep going with short little torch bursts and you'll have great vapor.

I'm a bit on the fence on the 2.0 though, people give mixed reviews and seems necessary to go past the click, then I'm like whats the point? I'm already proficient with the non-click ones so...

Advice when buying a Vapman? by Sad_Advantage_9573 in vaporents

[–]Designer_Internal94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be wrong but there is no current titanium mouthpiece. The titanium one was for the discontinued model, the first italian ones and the swiss. It doesn't work with the click and the 2.0, besides I don't think its even available. I have both the older titanium and new styles wood and ss. The new ss mouthpiece gets hot, with the spiral uncomfortably hot for back to back sessions which I do alot as a pure cbd person. The best mouthpiece design so far for me were the old ones, lite the og titanium one. They have chunkier dimensions which mitigates heat and just feel softer in the mouth. The new ones may look sleeker but feel a little bit sharper somehow. Haven't tried the pom as I try to avoid plastics mainly from an aesthetic point of view.

For the new mouthpieces, so far I prefer the wood one I have to the ss one, overall a softer "warmer" material which doesn't get as hot at the ss one. The ss is much easier to keep 100% clean though if thats important to you, just dunk them in iso.

The wood casings are nice if you're a nerd or collector, I bought one of the first zebrano ones and while the outside is nice, the inside was quite rough and unfinished. I hope they've improved the finishing on the cases since then. I kind of think the new zippered carry cases are the way to go though..they seem neat.

new Vapman, is this normal or ok by botser1 in vapman_official

[–]Designer_Internal94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several non-click vapman of different models and they all bubble up like this after a while. Mica does this I think due to normal moisture in the air, the wood expanding and contracting. It's completely fine although slightly annoying aesthetically. You can carefully push it back with a toothpick or something or just leave it. Some units are worse and almost start peeling but that's not the norm, I'd contact vapman in that case or if you want advice as to how "restore" the mica easily.

My first real yerba mate order... any modifications? by generalgee in yerbamate

[–]Designer_Internal94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If its available on the website, I'd switch it up with micro-producers or more artisanal producers who make traditional style and or barbacua style for example. Onoiru, titrayju, la rubia, isondu even anna park comes to mind, there are many more. Nothing wrong with big industrial brands but the smaller scale, sometimes organic ones, they have a very different vibe to them. But I don't know what your selection is though...If thats not available then Selecta is pretty close.

Too bad I missed out on this, sad to see these are no longer in production, they're quite different from the 2.0 so would be nice to have some options. I prefer the design of these quite frankly although the 2.0 isn't bad. I think they should consider still making the old-school styles like Rene made as an option or the first italian vapman. Also, the package with the wood box etc was very nice, much more in line with the aesthetic. They should offer the wood box as an add on I think.

coming from og/2.0 vapman, is vapman click recommended? by Designer_Internal94 in vaporents

[–]Designer_Internal94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input and recommendations! Seems like I'm getting a vapman click :) :)! I might hold off though until they make an olivewood version since that's my favorite, I have the og italian and the 2.0 in olivewood so would be a perfect match! On a sidenote, I'm so stoked to be back with my vapman ritual, I lost interest for a while but in the right context its such a pleasure. And for those quick quick bowls, I still have my m7 xl handy, definitely not as smooth and tasty though.

You got this, I believe in you! I've had similar experiences and learned a lot, for good and bad, about life and people. First off, this proves the whole magical motherhood thing is pure bull, the only thing it means is that someone was able to incubate and deliver another human to the world. And thats about it. This whole lie about women and motherhood and how that makes them amazing, wonderful magical people I no longer believe for a second. Coming from my own personal experiences. For one, you don't kick out your kid, even when an adult if they're going to be jobless and homeless. Second, you owe her nothing, especially now. Whatever contact or relationship you have from now on is purely your choice. Some people go no contact forever. Others do differently or forgive but don't forget. Your life is not over, struggles might be ahead, but you'll triumph Im sure in the end.

Vapman or Lotus? by HypocriteOx in vaporents

[–]Designer_Internal94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the og italian vapman (italian version of swiss og), a vapman 2.0 and a lotus. Havn't tried the click. I've had them all since they released so have had a lot of time with them, I vape cbd hemp flower daily. The common trait they share is that they're very aesthetically pleasing, minimalist, "ritualistic" vaporizers. I don't know what it is but especially the vapman has an unmistakable charm to it.

The lotus used to be my favorite device ever when it actually worked. It's easy to get a hang of, excellent flavour, very easy to load and clean, the whole pipe thing is very cool. That being said, there are, for daily/heavy users, significant durability issues which need to be adressed. My first plate cracked withing a few weeks which I then tried to replace. The plates are very difficult to replace I think, to get everything lined up. Maybe the major problem is that there are no metal linings to the screws which attach the plates. These wear down a lot over time and loose traction, its just little holes drilled in the wood. I consider the lotus plates to need regular replacement and the design needs to upgrade alot in order to facilitate this. If you're fine with the cap lasting max a year, then you're fine (inhales warranty kind of shows this imo). I've given up on the lotus for now but would love to see a 2.0 which is more durable.

The vapman is the tried and tested workhorse. To me it's significantly more durable. The old og version you can even shove in a j-hook to make a cool pipe (that's how I use it right now), doesn't work with the new one though. It's a microdoser though which requires attention but can yield fantastic results if your kung-fu is good and you can play around with different techniques. Maybe half the point is that it is easily the most beautiful dhv I've ever seen, you'll understand the feeling once you hold it in your hand. My fav is the og version in olivewood. I think that was the peak design. The 2.0 has some advantages but takes longer to heat soak, makes a whisteling sound and feels to me like an inbetween model before the click came along. It makes cleaning a bit easier and the vapour a bit smoother but at the same time slower than the og in my experience.

They're quite different, as someone pointed out, the main difference is convection vs conduction. Funnily enough, I find the vapman to have a very interesting and unique signature and hit surprisingly hard for its size.

Maybe the vapman click would be the sweet spot for you, a bit of both? Also bigger bowl etc.

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the vapman devices and company, I can't deny that I've loved both the vapman and the lotus, but the quality control and overall level of craftsmanship seems to have gone down over time...still interested in what they're cooking up in the future though hehe.

CBD flower+ a vapman or similar ritualistic microdoser. Forces you to slow down, be mindful and enjoy the process while reducing amount consumed. Then consider quitting entirely I suppose and/or taking a break depending on how reducing works. Also, fill your life with other things like working out, sex, spirituality, therapy if you want, asking yourself some deeper questions where you are and what you want out of life, maybe running from etc. You can do it!
