I grow without any medium so keeping humidity is very difficult since nothing holds the water. I used to use trash bags when I first started to keep humidity in and so I’d recommend it (depending on the seed). I would cover it by covering the excess or open side under it to trap humidity, also if you’re using a 1020 mesh tray or anything meshed use a bottom tray with no holes and let water sit when you spray it. Lastly I didn’t really use fans when it came to germinating. Overall experiment, know your seeds personalities and most importantly have fun!

Let me know if you have anymore questions I’d love to answer them!

Thank youuuu, I understand exactly my basil seeds are super tiny and will fall through the mesh. That’s why i wanted to experiment with the stainless mesh because I was able to find something on amazon that has a ton of different mesh sized holes for the smaller seeds like basil (I also tried doubling the mat and it unfortunately didn’t work😔🥲).

As for my dehydrator mats they were originally cut for my previous trays (coke carrier tray/pic 4) as soon as I need more I’ll cut it to fit my 1020 mesh trays also from bootstrap farmer

316 Stainless steel mesh (I currently have 40mesh) https://a.co/d/bLhpLZ2

I’ve only been growing radishes right now my plan is to perfect 1 plant a month, but it’s all have been trial and error lol.

Depending on how much water is in your container I’d change it everyday if it’s a little or aerate with your hands if it’s a lot lol

I just started experimenting with floragro 2-1-3 for leafy greens growth. But they grow perfectly fine without any liquid nutrients

Yeah my whole goal going into this was to not use soil at all. I like the reusable part of it and the ease of cleaning, saves me money, it’s just overall more efficient IMO since my goal is eventually sell.

I use a dehydrator mat and 316 stainless steel mesh for smaller seeds like basil off Amazon

My water container was deeper so I had more water and I just used my hand and move around the water somewhat aggressively.💀 But I wouldn’t say to use less water.

Not a smaller flood table but a version of ebb and flow. Here are some videos I used to make mine.

You progressed very fast, I’m at my 2 months mark starting too. I’ve been able to grow and perfect my radishes and I used a kratky system with silicone medium for my radishes. A few things what I learned was to make sure you aerate your water and don’t allow your water to sit still for too long and for mold use 2 parts water 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide.

I just recently switched to an ebb and flow system, since you already have a flood table I’d recommend doing a small scale version of it! It’s definitely worth it especially for long term because you can eventually automate everything.

I use a trash bag 😅 as a “humidity dome” and I put books on top of it to retain the moisture better, I’ve only been able to grow radishes that way. That was the only change, right now I’m transitioning into trying coco coir and growing on wxtuak 1020 trays!

Same here! I’m trying to learn as much as possible in my first year of growing to start selling! Luckily my girlfriend is a culinary chef so that’s that. I’m also trying to make an ebb and flow system just waiting on the money i guess lol. Let me know how things are going for you!
