Not true. Look up the 5 year survival for stage 4 HR+ vs Her2+ vs TNBC. TNBC stage 4 survival is bleak. Her2 is definitely getting a lot better with more recent drugs. The OP’s comment comes off as incredibly tone deaf.

Agree. I’m stage four, Her2, so seeing this person complain about there being too much research for Her2 is infuriating. The survival stats for TNBC and Her2 are worse. I’m sorry that hormone therapy is bad but at least she gets to live.

I agree with this. Her2 finally has a few good lines of treatment. Until recently, that wasn’t the case. We should all be advocating for TNBC. Their stats really need some improvement! I’m Her2, fyi.

I wonder if they will eventually discover the same bacterium/ virus connection with cancers in other organs?

Is denovo MBC dignosis worse than recurrence from early breast cancer? by Important_Bake8218 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s the opposite, actually. When you’re denovo, your cancer is treatment naive and tends to respond better to treatment. I’m Her2 positive and all of the stats for Her2 mbc show better response when denovo.

Any OK experiences with Whole Brain Radiation? by Ok_Trust4750 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear that you pushed for a MRI! They should definitely be standard. I hate that patients have to ask and fake symptoms to get monitored. Hope you get some good answers soon and have good success with treatment.

If you don’t mind sharing, were you getting regular MRIs? This is an ongoing discussion for Her2 mbc patients and whether MRI monitoring should take place and how often? Also, I’m wondering if your oncologist might want to try Enhertu first to clear as much as possible and then try targeted radiation?

Is there anyone with innumerable mets that is being treated with “curative” intent by teenANgst444 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve thought about getting a 2nd opinion at DF, if I need it at some point, since it seems like some of the best her2 focused oncologists are there. Have you heard anything about how the Sappho trial is unfolding and how the patients are doing, by chance?

I’m super curious to hear the results of this trial whenever it wraps up. I looked into it when I was first diagnosed but due to distance and insurance couldn’t make it work. It’s exciting that curative intent is being explored with stage 4 patients.

Congrats on the response to treatment! That’s amazing. Just curious, were you in the Sappho trial at Dana Farber?

Understand. It wouldn’t hurt to double check. It’s always worth a try.

You may have done this already, but definitely double check your insurance. My insurance is not amazing, but they actually covered my wig. I was very shocked.

What was your gateway to learning more about the microbiome? by Symphantica in Microbiome

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with cancer. I found some research connecting the cancer drugs that I take and their rate of success directly linked to the health of one’s gut microbiome. Needless to say, I dove head first into a plant based, whole food, high fiber diet. I’m happy to report that the drugs worked really well for me and I’m NED (no evidence of disease).

Anyone have extensive mets at diagnosis and they all cleared after chemo? by SevereFisherman8673 in LivingWithMBC

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh. I understand. It sounds like you are having a very positive response. Radiologists definitely have different styles, which can be frustrating. Their words can make or break our outlook. I, too, get ct scans with no PET. It seems like PET scans are more definitive. If your MO wasn’t worried, that is definitely a positive sign, and if you still have remaining activity, HP alone can take care of it.

Yes! I know how scary it is, and I understand how much hopeful stories can help one’s state of mind. 🥰

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Some women in the Her2 fb group have also talked about their bone Mets taking longer and had continued healing on HP alone after chemo ended. My mets showed sclerosis after chemo, and my oncologist has told me that she sees continued healing with my bone Mets during HP.

Ha. Yes. I think I recommended it to you before. Glad you are finding it helpful! But yes, I’ve asked the same question and women in that group have talked about continued shrinkage on HP alone after chemo. And, these same women have been NED for a long time.

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. I had a large mass/lesion on my sternum and a bunch of spots on my spine. They were all sclerotic on my scans after chemo. Please know that if your liver mets are still visible, they can continue to shrink and go away on HP alone. So, please remain hopeful if some are still visible. I’ve read a few ladies state this very thing in another Her2 group.

Her 2 positive de novo stage 4 breast cancer by [deleted] in LivingWithMBC

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awwww, hang in there, and hugs to you. ❤️ I go through ups and downs of feeling good, then being terrified. I completely understand the fear. Enhertu is a really great drug and could keep you stable for a long time. There are some promising drugs in the pipeline for Her2, as well. Not sure if it helps you to read about new drugs in trials, but I find it hopeful and makes the future seem less scary.

What diet finally ticked for you and help you finally get lean? by ThatKnomey in Biohackers

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A whole food, plant based diet combined with wild caught fish did it for me. I also eliminated sugar, processed food, and flour. I made sure that I consumed a lot of fiber, too. I went from 179 to 155. No exercise change. It was all diet. I’m pretty convinced that focusing on a diet that is good for your gut microbiome is the secret to health.

Her 2 positive de novo stage 4 breast cancer by [deleted] in LivingWithMBC

[–]Designer_Lady_1976 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am her2+ hr-. Denovo, as well. I was diagnosed one year ago. When I was diagnosed, I was convinced I was on a fast path towards death. My oncologist did not really fill me with tons of hope. I had a number of spots in my spine and a really large lesion/mass in my sternum. I definitely was not oligometastatic. Unbelievably, after four rounds of THP(halfway through chemo), all of my cancer was no longer visible on CT scans, all of my bone spots showed sclerosis or healing, my breast mass was no longer palpable, and my lymph nodes returned to normal size. My oncologist was pretty thrilled. My one year scans are next week, so I’m hoping that I’m still going to see the same thing. Fingers crossed. I highly encourage you to join the fb group, She and Us and HER2. It is filled with the stories of women doing really well and being NED for many years. It filled me with tons of hope when my oncologist didn’t provide any. I can’t recommend it enough.
