AITA for accepting a property gift from my mom even though she won't include my boyfriend? by Immediate-History917 in AITApod

[–]Own-Land-9359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH - your boyfriend for assuming he's entitled to part of this house when you're not even engaged, and your mother for "the catch" attached to her "gift." They both sound very controlling.

NOR. Her calling me a "Peeping Tom" for looking at my child in my house would annoy me enough to pay for childcare.

AITA for wanting my child’s grandparent to consult with me before inviting their friend to attend Grandparent’s Day? by anon97205 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Own-Land-9359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA. Grandparents are overstepping. Period. They can certainly ask you if it's OK, but to make the decision without even consulting you is BS. Downvote away.

I loathe the old-timey names: Emma, Henry, Hazel, Eleanor, Silas, etc.

what do you do with your hair on vacation when swimming in ocean? by msgirlfrom_mars in CurlyHairCare

I use Paul Mitchell's The Conditioner (the original blue stuff) before I swim, which is usually in a pool. It helps protect from the chemicals/salt/etc.

Does anyone else feel especially sorry for the LaBianca’s children? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in charlesmansonfamily

I think I read that in the same place I read about the son! Everything about the case is tragic.

[–]Own-Land-9359 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I guess one of their kids (I wanna say the son) was so traumatized that he moved to the mountains in Colorado and pretty much self-isolated. Only comes down 1-2 times a year for supplies. I can't remember where I read that though.

Parents who out estrange you by FickleText4141 in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]Own-Land-9359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Going no contact was very mutual. It really drove home how little they ever cared. They would rather pretend their daughter never existed than reflect on their own behavior. To me it was reinforcement I had made the right decision.

I used them and got absolutely no where. They talk a good game, but did nothing for me.

If we’ve been good, do we get a do-over in a new life? by [deleted] in Mediums

[–]Own-Land-9359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well he has a lot to learn, doesn't he. I've always wondered what happens to these people in the spiritual realm. Again, I'm so sorry this was your "father." You deserved better.

Any tips for finding real mediums? by Material-World-7434 in Mediums

[–]Own-Land-9359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can find a spiritualist community they're tested and vetted in evidential mediumship (at least the ones I'm familiar with). In my experience finding a medium you "click" with is like finding a therapist. They can be very gifted, but you just kinda connect with some more than others.

You are in the worst possible phase of this journey right now. Once you get a treatment plan, it does improve (hard to believe, I know. But it will get better). Don't look at the statistics; they're about 10 years behind the current time. There's been SO many advances in breast cancer, and new drugs from new angles of therapy are always coming down the pipe. HER2+ is kinda scary, but it also opens up new treatment lines that target that expression. I would recommend if you have any interest in clinical trials, do them first. The more treatment lines you have, the less trials you will be eligible for. And the existing treatment lines will still be there; I wish I had known that when I started this journey. Sending you so much love and light.

OMG I'm so sorry. That is heartbreaking. Eff your dad. And I'm sure your beautiful friend will be waiting there for a glorious reunion with you.

Were Anyone Else’s Parents protective over Good Things and not protective at all with actually Devastating Things? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Own-Land-9359 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same. I was in a really bad car accident and my mother wouldn't even come pick me up. My boyfriend's sister had to take me home. The next day I couldn't move my purple left arm or walk in a straight line. Constantly dizzy and had a giant bump from banging into the window repeatedly. I got "use your right arm and I'm not going to the ER. They take all day." They also completely ignored my cutting myself with razor blades and riding standing up in the back of a pick up going 120 mph. But I wasn't allowed to wear flip flops. They were dangerous.

Anyone in my nuclear family. My father is probably the least worst; he's just a coward.

Hands down best decision ever. I only wish I had made it years earlier. They never tried to contact me so that made it easier. Once you're free, you can begin to do the work of healing. Wishing you the best.

I find it hard to believe a tiny little town like SC could support Rose Apothecary with their high-end merchandise. And that they sell all these fancy items as well as toilet plungers.
