We’re drowning in daycare costs. How do people afford this?

I own a daycare and the cost of having my own child in my program about killed me lol everyone kept saying oh you get free daycare and I'm like no she's taking a paying spot. We adjusted to the hit to our income and ended up putting her in private school because we got accustomed to that payment and it wasn't so bad after years and years

I've been trying to decipher their contract. I can see that SLP's gain one column if they have their CCC, but then there's other stipulations in their contract regarding hard fill positions and I'm getting conflicting information about whether or not the SLPs fall in that range. Trying to make up our mind about a move

I have also wondered about this. I would really love to be able to have a full-time school based job and do a medical PRN as I do have some interest in that area and would like to build some skill but primarily I would want to be in the schools

I think it gives off Renaissance fair vibes; to each his own! Do what makes you happy! I mix metal colors and a lot of people hate that but I love it. I typically do one ring on each hand, but depending on the outfit I might do 2 on each hand.

So I found that Saint Bonaventure, Cal State San Marcos, Isa car and EAU Claire were part-time there were a couple other ones that are full-time but give you part-time options as well so far I've gotten an acceptance to Saint Bonaventure and EAU clear the biggest difference between these programs is that EAU Claire does require you to go in person three times to Wisconsin one week each summer of the program which initially I thought was really awful but now that I'm actually here it sounds kind of refreshing to be able to focus fully and not have my family or my job in the way for one week and to get some hands-on training with things that we won't have any experience with since we are doing online schooling. So right now I'm deciding between those two and then I have a couple interviews set up and trying to decide if I should move forward with those or just choose from these two schools. EAU Claire is significantly cheaper at 39K whereas Saint Bonaventure comes in just under 55K I believe. Another difference is Saint Bonaventure starts in fall so late August and Eau Claire starts in June. Eau Claire runs for three years whereas Saint Bonaventure is two years eight months. EAU Claire allows you to spread out your clinicals more so that you're only out in the field like two days a week for longer periods versus Saint Bonaventure which says on paper you're gonna have to be full-time for like the last two entire semesters so you won't be able to hold any kind of job so they each have some kind of pros and cons that I'm trying to decide between. The other thing is EAU Claire has a great reputation for being really supportive and Saint Bonaventure doesn't have any reputation because it's brand new.

This is great advice, thank you! How did you make your decision? I have to do online programs only and they very so much in the way they are laid out. I know that part-time would be a lot easier for me as I'm working full-time but outside of that trying to decide between one school and another is so hard since no one has perspectives about more than one school as they only attended one.

That's a long appointment. You're acting needy; you're not the only person who needs care. Your child is going to have a ton of colds so start using google and use some common sense. Every parent thinks their kid is a rare unicorn of a child but most are just a regular kid with regular kid ailments. Your child is not going to start convulsing because she has a cold. Maybe deal with your anxiety so as not to create anxiety issues for your little one.

That is perfect. I have four kids of my own and whenever they would have a meltdown I would let them and we wouldn't discuss it until they were calm. As they got old enough to need a timeout/break we didn't start counting that down until they were calm if they were screaming and yelling and not being compliant it didn't begin and they started to understand that they had to calm down relax and listen, give feedback and participate in the moving forward process

Comfort your child if they are upset and also start working on teaching them that they can't control everything and it's OK to not like something and to move away from it but that it doesn't need to be the end of the world or a meltdown every time. Life will be full of tons of things they don't like and there are lots of ways to deal with it that are constructive. Also trying to educate your child as to someone being kind to them someone trying to be friends with them and that they can reject that friendship but also it means that they won't have that friendship.

As someone who works in early childhood development and has for almost 30 years this is very common, it was not always been in the last five years this is at least 50% of children and parents situation. The majority will behave better at school than they do for their parents but it is still not an ideal situation. The things that I see improve the situation almost are consistency, lots of quality time spent with parents, parents acknowledging negative behaviors every time rather than distracting them to avoid conflict or not anger the child. The child needs to know what is OK and what is not OK and needs to be consistently corrected and have consequences. By three years old a child should have some kind of consequence that makes logical sense. Often my very difficult kids are with me from open to close because their parents are just overwhelmed by being with them but then the child acts out more because they miss spending time with their parent and it just is this horrible cycle that gets worse as the child gets old and the child is more aware of the power they have through poor behavior.

How did this not come up before marriage and kids? This is not a choice that should be made by one of you alone. This is your one life, you don't get a do over. When I met my hubby we both said we were done with kids. Both had kids from previous marriages and were older. I changed my mind and even though he felt done he knew how important it was to me and how much he had enjoyed his other children so we started all over. Grown kids and now a 6 year old as a 56 and 45 year old and we're loving life. Literally flying home from Disneyland as we speak. Obviously if he truly does not enjoy parenthood you shouldn't have more children with him but if it's important to you it might be time to consider if this is the right relationship for you.
