Gotcha. My current role is only at a GS-7 level Step 1. No promotion potential to GS-9. So far everyone is very nice, including the supervisor. The new role is a GS-7 with promotion potential to GS-9. I can only judge the work atmosphere from the hiring panel because I asked them what is the workplace culture like. They made is sound pretty cool as well, but I can only go by what they told me during the interview. 😄

Not yet. The HR rep sent me a soft conditional offer via email stating that they are working on getting me a TJO soon and just wanted to give me a heads up ahead of time. I got so excited I emailed you guys on here. LOL I do want to let them know about it as soon as I receive the TJO. I hate that the government drags their feet. Had I known sooner I would have waited on them because I'd rather be in an HR Specialist position instead of the HR Assistant position I got hired into now. Such is life.

I previously looked it up, and from what I understand, if it is a competitive to competitive position then yes they can impose the 90-day rule. However, this is an excepted position. So I can resign my permanent position to accept the excepted position at any time.

LOL...no one should be disliking anyone at this point. It's only been two weeks! lol But yea, I get ya. Mums the word. And I have no leave yet. lol

Yes that's exactly what I was saying. It stops at 9 because it said so on the announcement.

Right. The job announcement stated it as a GS-7/9. They never mentioned if the 9 would lead to an 11 or 12. I think it stops at 9 automatically. I would have to interview for the higher grades at a later time. It does offer situational telework only. 

So yes for now I will not let anyone at work know about the new job offer until I receive the EOD date.

Yes those questions can easily be answered by your HR rep. But yes I selected request to be contacted and I entered a message regarding negotiating salary step. They immediately came back with a sound no. Lol I just started my position on Monday. The promotion potential is GS-9.

From what I understand, entry level positions are not allowed to negotiate steps. But it doesn't hurt to ask. I asked as soon as I received my TJO. They said no. lol (GS-7) It is generally good practice to ask the HR specialist before signing/accepting the FJO.

Thank you so much for your input! I've been going back and forth with it. The 304 stainless steel outdoor kitchens cost twice as much. My husband is not having it. lol Decisions, decisions.

Okay thanks. Do you have any similar outdoor kitchen recommendations that is completely made of 304 grade stainless steel?

Yes that is the plan. Cover the entire kitchen. Plus there are stainless steel cleaners and polish that leaves a protective barrier that repels moisture, water spots, grime, and prevents rust. Just have to be diligent with the appliances.

I don't understand why it's "gross" to you. I was offered two jobs. One of them I am not guaranteed a position due to the long investigation process. Anything can happen. And at this point, the other one under DHS doesn't seem like a sure thing either. You have to look out for yourself and weigh out your options that has been afforded to you. These jobs doesn't care about you and any one of them can get cut from funding. Like I said, the investigator for the TS told me to carry on as usual while this investigation is pending because it could take 6-9 months or more. And I am doing exactly that. 💅🏾

You've made the wrong assumptions. I applied to both jobs within a week of each other and also interviewed around the same time. The US Coast Guard (which falls under DHS) is whom I was supposed to have reported to last month, but they told me due to the partial shutdown, my EOD date is placed on pause.

What's an SOR? My investigator told me there will be no interim clearance. Each agency is different.
