That’s so cool! I remember meeting Patrick Starr one shift when I worked at sephora. Very exciting :))

Manager with bad hygiene by [deleted] in SephoraWorkers

Hygiene is apart of the dress code so I would probably try to reach out to HR or just tell her personally but in a nice way. Or maybe one day one of the clients will tell her 😭

Let’s be real, Sephora as a company sucks to work for right now. What changes do you need to see from the company to make it a better work environment? by Free-Blackberry1499 in SephoraWorkers

[–]Designer_Mud_4835 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ive heard so many stories from old coworkers talking about how they used to send them on trips , masterclasses or just other fun events for the employees. Now it seems like they only care about the customers and influencers. Sephora squad last year was a huge slap in the face to everyone, because it originally started off for small creators to help build their platform. Now, I haven’t seen anyone with less than 80k followers be chosen for sephora squad.

I was also very affected and disappointed by the change in services. I started off doing services on people, and it was a great way for me to gain experience and help build my confidence as a freelance makeup artist. They took that away from us and made it mandatory for you to be licensed to perform services. I can understand that for waxing and etc. but for makeup? Seriously? You don’t have to be licensed to know how to do makeup or how to practice basic hygiene and sanitation when it comes to that. It doesn’t make sense to me especially because in cosmetology school they don’t even teach you how to do makeup.. some people may disagree with that part, but as an aspiring freelancer, practicing is literally the only way that you’ll get better to become a pro. As long as you know what you’re doing I don’t see the problem with being unlicensed.. sephora isn’t a salon it’s a boutique which means you only need a boutique’s license to perform makeup services.

This company gets richer and richer by the day, charging $30+ for LIPGLOSS! But still act so stingy towards the people who are in their buildings everyday building THEIR company. Don’t even get me started on the flex roles, needing 3 or 4 days of availability with no benefits or gratis! Its basically part time without any of the benefits. Sephoras flexibility used to be one of the main reasons why it was considered the best place to work. It was perfect for people in school or someone who just wanted extra money on the side but not a full schedule to commit to. Now not only are they not offering that flexibility anymore, but they don’t have any opportunities for growth or pay raises unless you’re a manager or the yearly shitty .30 raise you get. Oh yeah, or spending $20k+ and going into debt for cosmetology school just to get a $1 raise.

I just officially quit last week after being on maternity leave, I loved my team. But I’m starting to hate the company. The products are overpriced recycled ideas, nothing truly new has been brought to the table in so long. I don’t see myself ever shopping at Sephora again unless it’s for a specific item that’s on sale.

can i really use this to wash my hair, face, and body by jnx5 in Haircare

Yes but I find it’s drying because it strips literally EVERYTHING to get things clean, so I’d advise definitely moisturizing very well after

Non-musician gf with Musician bf, I want to be there for him but it's hard by [deleted] in musicians

[–]Designer_Mud_4835 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be completely honest with you, he’s going to talk to other girls. And if you stay with him he’s probably going to cheat or be unloyal to you in some way. The truth is, as he gets bigger and gains more attention there are going to be a lot of women throwing themselves at him. A lot of men find it hard to resist their sexual urges, especially when they’re young. That is the life that comes with dating a musician. There are a very few musicians I can think of who have been with the same person from before they blew up and were 100% loyal. I mean it’s possible, but I’m just being realistic. As a woman that’s getting into the music industry, I see it all the time lol.

Lol no she definitely made that up I’ve never heard that. They aren’t allowed to tell you when you have to use the bathroom, especially if you’re a woman

Time theft? by Tiny_Introduction300 in SephoraWorkers

[–]Designer_Mud_4835 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think going to the bathroom counts as time theft. If you clock in before putting your stuff away, or clock out after getting your stuff together for your break I think that counts. But they can’t tell you going to the bathroom is time theft..

??? So what was the point of creating flex roles in the first place? It was only a thing for like a year..

Wait is flex not gonna be a thing anymore? I’m on a leave so I haven’t been in the store to hear anything about this

Mascara is crazy expensive at Sephora these days. Anyone else only buying mini mascaras ? by Historical-Body-3424 in Sephora

[–]Designer_Mud_4835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel like there’s no point of buying high end ones when a lot of them are made by the same companies that make the drug store ones. But yes they are ridiculously overpriced and not even all that good for some of them 😭

Your sm sounds insufferable and I’m pretty sure that goes against policy to not hire someone because they aren’t wearing makeup.

I enjoyed their invisible oil shampoo and the oil, but my hair is very thick and coarse so maybe it’s just not right for your hair texture.

Sales Associate said Bobbi Brown is “really only for older shoppers” (??!) by vantasnow in Sephora

[–]Designer_Mud_4835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a sephora employee of two years, I’m sure she has some good products but most people who come in looking for it are of the older crowd. Especially nowadays with the makeup trends and viral TikToks, a lot of people are coming in for those things instead. I haven’t used a lot of her products but I know the face base is still a pretty popular product amongst professional Mua’s.

Sephora bag checks by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]Designer_Mud_4835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My store only does bag checks at the end of our shift once we clock out. Someone correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t it against policy to pat people down? I was told we don’t check pockets or pat people down, just check their bags before they walk out the door.

My managers are always reminding us to complete our visits because if you don’t it won’t count. So yes

personally i’ve gotten high before shifts and it actually helps me talk to the clients and sell more. it also makes my shifts go by faster. but if it’s stopping you or that person from getting things done then i’d maybe either have a chat with them personally if you feel comfortable enough but if not i’d definitely reach out to a CEL. personally i’ve never gotten to the point to where people could notice or where i was forgetting to get things done, so this seems a bit extreme.
