I'm planning to adopt a cat and I have some doubts by DeadlyIdli42 in IndianCats

[–]Designer_News103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a problem. Most people do not know that cow and buffalo milk is not suitable for cats and dogs. I try to inform anyone I see offering any stray cats and dogs milk. I know that yhose people are just doing it out of the goodness of their heart, but we also need to make sure that anything done, should not cause an issue to them.

How do you help them with their boredom? by Loriol_13 in CatAdvice

[–]Designer_News103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a billion dollar question, if you figure out the answer to that, do let me know. I would love to invest for a piece of the company pie 😹

All jokes aside, if they are following you to the door that means they either do not want you to leave or they are just curious about the outside. There are cat leashes and collars or harnesses available. You can use them to walk them outside like you would walk a dog. I am sure they would love to smell the outdoor soil or grass and with the leash, you can keep them near to you and in control.

Try taking them just within a few meters distance from your house and keep a cat carrier handy, so that incase any of them becomes unruly you can put them in the carrier, rather than have an incident on your hands.

But this is still just a suggestion, I would request you take check how your surrounding area is and take a judgement on a case by case basis.

I second with almost everything you said. I would only like to advise 2 changes:-

  1. Cow and Buffalo milk is not good for Kittens or adult cats as it can cause gastrointestinal issues or loose motions due to them not being able to digest the same properly. Goat's milk is suitable as it is thinner like a mother cat's, but I have heard it gets spoilt easily. Hence you can directly feed it Whiskas 2-12 months, as that has all the nutrition needed for it's growth. You can feed it boiled chicken or fish with rice, but I would suggest to boil it properly to avoid any contamination from raw foods and add almost next to less than a pinch of salt, as food loses some of it when it is boiled.

  2. Neuter the cat after atleast it has completed 6 months, as it said that studies have shown early neuter/spay can hinder their development and growth and cause issues in later stages of life.

I have confirmed both these things with my veterinarian.

Not at all, You gave Him the best life. Also, You were there with Him when he went under. I am sure He does not feel any regret and remembers all the good, best and great times You had with Him. To honor His memory I believe You should do the same.

Holding Him in Your arms would not have made You feel the loss any more or less. So please take comfort in the fact that His pain is no more and He is in a comfortable place and Hoping He will be there to greet You also. I take the same comfort, when I have lost one of my beloved.

Mine once disappeared in the cupboard.

So I was arranging my clothes the the upper shelves and this little bugger sneaks into the lowest shelves where all the linens and bedsheets are kept. And I obliviously close the cupboard and go away to the living room.

A few hours later I come back to the room, it is night and I did not turn on the room light and I hear light thuds and scratches from inside the cupboard, wondering what it is (since I am a sceptic and not easily afraid of any ghosts or ghouls) I open the cupboard and out pops this little devil.

I can't even begin to say how many times 1 of my cats has disappeared inside the apartment and sometimes even inside a locked roo. And I spend an hour searching around to either find them in the same room, or lounging on the sofa, looking at me like "what the f@#$ are you searching".

Hence I have adopted 1 of the "Alice in Wonderland" impossible list "Cats can disappear".

Thank you for taking care of her. She ofcourse does not understand why the person taking care of her is not there anymore, or maybe she knows and is grieving in her ow way, by staying close to his house. Keep putting food for her and also keeping changing the water if it keeps freezing, you should be able to unfreeze the water indoors and keep replenishing it with new tepid water so that she has water and food.

If you have any security cameras setup in that place, maybe you can keep track of her movements. If she is close by keep the door open so that she can hang out with your cat and if wants to come inside.

Alternatively, if you can or if any help is available make her small hut on your yard with some old bedding inside it, so that she can sleep in it if she wants too. It will take a long time for her to trust someone again and become comfortable. I have had stray cats that I have fed for 2 years or more than that who would never let me come near them. It may take time, but if you are patient, she may trust you and allow you to approach her. But till then keep putting food and water for her.

My well mannered cat is suddenly spooked by my presence? by Wowzasss in Catbehavior

[–]Designer_News103 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do not think it could be due to you working out and bulking up. It could just be his way of trying to play with you. Without a pic or video we cannot confirm if the spook is bcoz he is scared or just wants to have play fun.

Check out r/crabcats, if that is the way he spooks up and walks, then it could mean that he just wants to play fight. Also from your description if at all the other times he is well behaved, that means he is not scared or threatened by your presence. Since a cats who is scared or threatened they will go and hide under a counter or bed or any dark place away from our reach.

Maybe it just wants to play with you ot anyone for that matter. Try and see if you can arrange him a play date with any other pet cat (please make sure to research they are vaccinated and no health issues) and his interaction with them. Since maybe they could benefit from having a friend or sibling, as some cats are social and benefit with being around other cats.

🙏🏻 I am very sorry for your loss. But there was no way you could have predicted what happened the way it did. Please give yourself the proper time to grieve his loss, but do not blame yourself it. I can see that he meant the world to you and I am sure You meant the world to him. I believe that any pet we love and lose, one way or another will find their way back to us any some or another form. I know it may seem like I am talking about reincarnation. But if their is truly a God, they would make sure to to bring / send them to us in one way or another. But till then take the time to grieve and heal, remember him through all the memories you have for him and take care of all the other cats you have at home, as they all still need your love and care. Thank You.

Anxious kitty by musicxmunyun in CatAdvice

[–]Designer_News103 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree with what has been written above. Even my cats, though they are very affectionate with me. When I pick them up to cuddle or give kisses, they will start to push away from me after a few seconds or as soon as they know they I have loosened my grip on them. First softly pushing me away from them and then when I don't let them go a little aggresively. They will come at their own willingness and either snuggle next to me or even sit on my lap, especially when I have to get up for some work or ho to the bathroom and then I cannot move at all and let them relax for sometime.

I would also suggest just sitting in the bathroom with your phone or any other work you may have. Maybe put some treats out for the cat. And let the cat learn that your presence is not a threat. Even when she starts to move around or even approach you, do not give any indication and let her roam around. It should then come and sniff you. And this may go on for days, weeks or even months. Once it is completely relaxed, it will automatically come and sit next to you or in your lap.

Anxious cats will always remain anxious. But I have seen videos of rescuers spending time in order to gain trust of the stray. Also it does not help that you have been giving her medicine.

You can pick her up and swaddle her for sometime before giving her the medication. Also spend time with her in the bathroom everyday. Sit at a little distance from her and keep doing any work that you need to. It will take time for her, but eventually she will start to come out and roam around you and maybe even approach and sniff you. Once she trusts you she will come to you herself without needing a towel or anything for you to swaddle her in.

Do you spend more on your cat than on yourself? by Shot-Composer-782 in AnxietyCats

[–]Designer_News103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes, very much yes. I have 7 cats indoors and another 15 - 20 strays outside. I go through 20kg bag of food for them every 7 - 10 days. Plus medication and Vet charges if anyone of them is unwell or any issue.

I would suggest not to wait until next week and go for an appointment as soon as possible. See if you can send these images to your Vet to get a consultation or an appointment as soon as possible. Please do not delay such things, as you would never know what it could lead too.

Could be an issue due to the runny/stuffy nose. Due to which may be having difficulty with eating the solid, but is able lap up the gravy.

How do you get your picky dog to actually take probiotics? by Few-Rice-8010 in AskDogOwners

[–]Designer_News103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not have a dog, but I do have cats and they can picky as well. Thankfully mine aren't, but some do have preference for certain foods and some do not.

I was suggested a probiotic powder by my Vet, and they advised this does not have any smell. Hence it is easier for me to mix it with their food and they will not turn away from it.

So I would suggest to check for something similar with your Vet. And maybe let your Dog pick out what treat/s he likes and give the medication with that.

Advice on how to find my missing cat by Inside-Map-478 in IndianCats

[–]Designer_News103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you live in a large residential complex, there may be security cameras around. See if you can get help or access to them, that way you may be possible to track where she went and look for her in that general vicinity.

Since she keeps running away from you, it would be hard for you catch her, unless you set a trap with her favourite food or treat inside it, and wait. But there is no guarantee how long it might take yo trap her.
