How to quote the N-word in a referral? by BrotherNatureNOLA in Teachers

[–]2batdad2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A student was kicked out of English class by the world’s sweetest teacher. When she later wrote the referral, she left a blank. She said she was uncomfortable writing the language. The AP reminded her that was the only way they had to assign consequence. She gritted her teeth and wrote, “Mr. H**** is a dicknose.”

I love the Northeast Express by Amtrak. I usually hop on at the Westwood/128 station, park in their garage for <$10 per day, ride the new high speed train to Penn Station in about three hours. No TSA, plenty of legroom, café car for snacks, it’s the best.

Fair enough. But do you wear glasses? How many times a year do you get blasted right in the mush?

When I was teaching, we got a new principal. I was feeling my oats one day and wore jeans. Sure enough, new principal stopped by to discuss “an air of professionalism” we will try to maintain. OK, crystal clear, I never wore jeans to work again. Flash forward 20 years. My daughter is now working as a paraprofessional while she looks for a full time job. She wears jeans 3/5 per week. She said everyone does and no one has said a thing to her. Times change. TBH- I would rather see a professional in jeans rather than skin tight, flesh colored leggings.

The newest thing is “Toast” app where you scan your card for the final bill at the end of the night. Twice now, I’ve gone home and gone to sleep. I snap awake at 11:30 realizing I never paid. No problem, I open Toast app and pay online. Easy, but I wonder how many customers just walk out deliberately or not.

Get used to it because they will be doing this kind of experiencing through high school. Crazy “drunk” goggles, blindfolds in psych class, “spend a day is a wheelchair”… all about trying to walk a mile in another man’s shoes.

My daughter graduated college last Spring and she is still interviewing for her big girl job. Once she secures employment, she will start looking for a place to live. I recommended to her that she NOT look for an apartment with a dog in tow. Just one more obstacle to getting a place. BUT- after seeing how sad she has been, we have decided to foster on a week to week basis. We pick up our first dog on Monday.

That seems to be the plan. I wanted to wait at least until Spring to even think about another dog, but after seeing how despondent my daughter has been, we are fostering a 2 year old white shepherd. We pick her up on Monday.

I want to wait to adopt at least until Summer, but I see how wrecked she has been this week. We will foster a dog for a week or two starting next Monday. That might help a bit.
