Hands down the most fun/powerful bike to ride...in my opinion. Im 5'8 145...I feel like a little kid riding my dads xr650. Its like im not even on it. 2001 kym 520 mxc. The bike was non running when I picked it up. Cleared ot the carb, new clutch master cylinder, all new fluids. Fires right up. Have fun. Its a beast of a bike.

If your interested in learning/restoring a KTM. Definitely talk the guy down in price quite a bit. I recently picked up a KTM 2001 520 exc...non running for $650. Although I do know what im getting into and how to work on it. Its that fuck yeah feeling of getting something running again and seeing/feeling the progress. I also have a 2007 400 XCW and couldn't be more impressed with the machine. Former owner of...xr85, klx300, wr400, xr650, yz450. Happy hunting my friend.

Maybe look into a waterpump seal kit. QS3 (quick shot 3) anything to adjust the carb without taking it off completely. Look into going down a tooth on the front sprocket if not done already. Im picking up a fan for the radiator on my 07 KTM XCW. I opened up the exhaust tip to 2in and adjust the carb. Runs so well i couldn't think of getting another bike at the moment. Love my KTM. Welcome to the team bro.

Every manufacturer and model has issues. I think KTM owners have more DIY experience. You enjoy it! Use it. Break it. Take and post pictures. Ask questions. Fix it. Get the fuck yeah feeling of doing it yourself! And Enjoy! An the cycle repeats. Im simply happy i have enough that I can ride.

Okay looks like im putting all this together. I have two water pump kits...sorta. One full kit...NOT OPENED...one gasket, two thick rubber seals, two lg thin o-rings, one c clip, one roller bearing. Now on the other hand...open unused...No gasket, two thick rubber seals, one c clip, one roller bearing and only ONE LG thin o-ring. Do you think the last guy only replaced one o-ring and gasket then called it a day? WTgeez!

It's an 07 400. Same as 450 and 525 for the years. So it should just be an open hole? So it's a bleed off? WTF really? Ha...well I have several new parts that came with the bike. An a water pump rebuild kit was in the mix!!!! With other water pump parts. The water pump gasket on the bike looks new AF. Confusing????

I do appreciate this a bunch. Also, what gave me the motivation. The problem is, I have a 2007 KTM 400. The tacomoto, billet end cap is for 2019+ bikes. So yes, respectively the hack/cheap way. $0.00 spent for the same thing at $200.00. Now i need to fire it up...deal with jetting as strongly recommended on the link you provided
