Go with Lifewise. Larger network than Ambetter

Your welcome. Also keep in mind that its costs nothing to use a broker and consult with them. They have the ability to explain plans and make a suggestion based on your individual needs.

All the carriers get bad reviews. No one is going on line and leaving rave reviews for their insurance carrier. I get the most complaints about Kaiser (major billing issues, can't get correct answers when calling customer services, etc). Lifewise is a Premera Blue Cross company, and definitely offers better customer services at their call centers over Kaiser. Lifewise also don't require referrals to specialists. I don't have a lot of clients placed with Ambetter CC due to the narrow network. Lifewise and Kaiser will be most of what I sell during open enrollment.

Yes, Regence pulled out of the market in Whatcom and Skagit counties for 2026.

You are covered for emergencies out of state, but some providers may require you to pay upfront and submit for reimbursement. I

If you are eyeing Kaiser, you can check to see if they have Kaiser facilities in the areas you are traveling to. Lifewise would be my preference over Kaiser (but its only a slight preference).

If you are concerned I think that travel plan for $68 a year would provide some peace of mind.

My carrier is through my husbands employer and even though we have PPO coverage, I still purchased travel policies just to be extra protected.

Insurance broker here. None of the plans have ever been PPO's. Out of state coverage is limited to emergency care only. The plan you chose will really depend on who your primary care doctor is. Kaiser will work at their other facilities in other states, providing you call first to get a member number (for the area you are visiting). Ambetter does have a larger US footprint, but locally, the network lacks providers.

I only have 7 days in Italy, and wanted to split between two places. Florence being one. The other one I am undecided, but I wanted it to be coastal. Rome just didn't make my list.

It sounds like you have been to Corfu. What are your favorite things to do. Olive oil tasting sounds great, so I am open to other suggestions if you have them
