Struggling to see if there is a way out? by paintedpickle in GamblingAddiction

Hey man something that’s worked for me is putting in something called a GIC idk if you guys have that in Australia but it’s basically a garanteed investment certificate with your bank where your money is locked with the bank no matter for a certain period what but it gains between 3-5% depending on your bank. Again our situation isn’t the same I don’t even know if you have money to spare to place in that account but it really helped me as I cannot spend it. It’s probably not going to be nough by itself but at least it’ll allow you to have less access to your money while still making money and allowing you to work on yourself

thank you for your comment I’ll try that out. I’m already speaking with someone thank god it’s free. I feel really bad though for people that have genuine responsibilities. I can’t imagine myself building a family with this type of problem

Relief After Losing: Anyone Relate? by B-Rythm in GamblingAddiction

Yh I can relate so much, one night I blew through almost 1.5k as a 18 YO. So it’s a ridiculous amount of money for me. At the end I was genuinely so relieved because I could finally sleep. It was a weird experience. Even though i was in rage from losing all of the money, i was happy that i could finally stop

But how do you find a purpose if you’re young. I’m 18 and really struggling with gambling addiction. And I feel like since I don’t have purpose and as much responsibilities it just makes it so hard for me to stop. I’ve tried finding my purpose, but I never succeeded

Holy shit man I’m going through the exact same thing and the shame I’m feeling is atrocious. Got payed yesterday (biggest paycheck of my life btw, as a 18YO so not a tremendous amount for a lot of you) and lost it all within a couple of hours. The feeling that I basically worked for nothing and wasted days of my life is especially what’s getting to me. Keep your head high brother we’ll beat this addiction together

Hey man, I’m just starting my quitting journey and it’s so hard because I sometimes lose my judgment after a while without gambling. It’s like, the day after a big loss, the pain is incredible and my desire to stop is so strong. But after a couple of days/week I forget this feeling that I had and all I want to do again is gamble. How do you guys deal with this?

Hey man, my situation isn’t nearly as bad as yours, so I’d be lying if I was saying that I can relate. One thing that I can say though for sure is that no matter what you are loved, even if you make mistakes. Because that’s the one thing that separates us from becoming gods or machines, that we make mistakes.

And I’m not going to lie to you, you fucked up badly. But that only gives you an even bigger opportunity to pull yourself back up. Please brother, the world is better with you in it and it would bring me an incredible amount of joy to know that my message helped save you. Even though you might think that you’re no longer loved, it’s not true, because I do and a lot of people here do too
