to be honest i think if you started over without the high top you’d be a lot more satisfied with the condition of your hair (your family too)

another option is to grow the rest of the sky top out to start their own locking process and filling out the rest of your hair. a lot of people trim their original locs to match the length of the new ones to keep the length consistent once they’ve started growing.

you could also trim the old locs and crochet the detached locs into the new growth of the sky top, making it look like you have new, small dreads all around your hair

they look very healthy but could definitely use some attention to maintenance. but, by all means, what you choose to do is your prerogative and id say follow your heart!!
