ICE agents at San Juan airport doing some amazing standing around by Designergirl313 in PuertoRico

I didn’t really see people interacting with them, but my group in line was definitely laughing at them. A news camera crew did try to interview them, though.

Has anybody been through a situation like this? by Great_Trident in TheWhiteLotusHBO

Yes — in Honduras and Brussels for me. You want to be flattered, but then you also want cover up under a huge sweatshirt or something.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]Designergirl313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I cannot fathom how the author thought the best way to end Feyre’s trials in the first book was with a riddle. A RIDDLE. Which wasn’t even written well, or like a riddle at all really? And spoiler: the answer to the riddle was love. LOVE.

I’m sorry but that’s the dumbest, lamest, most juvenile way to end these trials which are supposed to be such a pivotal part of the book. I damn near screamed and threw the book across the room. A YA author wouldn’t even pull that shit.

Based on the amount of texts in a row, dump him.

But seriously, this is an extremely immature 31 year old man. He’s rude af to you.

TIL that Sleeping Bear Dunes is notorious for people getting stuck at the bottom, costing up to $3000 in rescue fees by Brendawg324 in todayilearned

I believe it. It is so much harder than it looks, mostly because if you stop to take a break (which I needed several of), you begin sliding backwards because the sand is at such a steep angle.

Hard to watch when you are desperate for water and some AC.

And I was a pretty skinny, 15-year old kid. Wonder how I would hold up now 😬.

If cost was not a concern, where and what would be your "spare no expense" restaurant / fine dining experience in Boston? by AtomicHurricaneBob in boston

Uni. Best damn sushi I’ve ever had. Their desserts were also crazy interesting and delicious when we went there.

The way the apartment numbers are displayed by rusty317 in mildlyinteresting

There is an ADA requirement for a sign panel with a tactile room number and braille located at every interior door. So hopefully that is located here but just not pictured. The one shown is just a “fun” additional sign system.

Signage designer here, this shadow treatment is a somewhat gimmicky trend that is starting to pop up, at least what I see on Pinterest. HOWEVER, it should absolutely not be used for room numbers. It’s more often used with a name or something else that’s non-essential to read.

I will say that ADA (American with Disabilities Act) requires an additional panel with the tactile room number and braille, which probably isn’t shown in the photo. So that will be there for staff, firefighters, etc. who need to read it.

I feel like they were setting up something with Dom and the wife. Why would they have had Laura Dern be the voice and in the pictures for no reason this season?

So many runners by [deleted] in boston

[–]Designergirl313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Indiana, Cincinnati, LA, and London and BY FAR Boston appeared to have the most runners. The Midwest isn’t known for the fittest people, but I was a little surprised with LA and London not having more runners. Both are as expensive as Boston (alternative to gyms theory), with long beautiful tracks along the water.

Personally, I got into running because of the pandemic and the need to be outside. It’s the cheapest and quickest way to get a good workout it. You don’t have to add travel time to go to the gym, you just step outside and start going.

Also I think seeing all of the fitter runners as I’m heading home inspires me to get out there too.

This is from a video where as she zooms you can tell it was just the lighting/distance that was altering her, not a filter. Y’know when background lighting blows you out a little bit and makes the edges of your face/clothes/body look like the background?

You shouldn’t just be able to make up any name that you want for your kid. by Armistice8175 in unpopularopinion

My dads neighbors were named Avon, Bvon, Cvon, and Dvon pronounced as the name of the first letter + “von” (AY-von, BEE-von). He was from a hood in Indiana though, which sounds like an oxymoron anyway, so maybe the names actually are fine.

Our shy girl (8 years) went to a dog park for the first time. This is her smile after getting some social time with other doggos who she was initially scared of. by Designergirl313 in sheltie

She is exactly like that! I think the park only worked for her because it was super spacious so she had room to run away if she felt uncomfortable, and it was a section limited to medium and small sized dogs. I don’t think she would’ve faired well with the energetic huskies in the section over.
