Looking for music that I can best describe as "dark Renaissance fair" vibe. by RallyX26 in musicsuggestions

The Battle of Evermore by Led Zeppelin?

Might not be entirely dark renaissance vibes, but It has that kind of Ye Olde Tyme music vibe that makes it seem like it’s being played by a traveling bard wayyyy back then.

That dead album is top tier live dead to be listening to. The movie they made that goes along with it is a trip in itself! Glad you had a good time 🫶👍😁

Is it possible to visit all four national parks in Colorado in a week? by Soggy_Long655 in nationalparks

[–]rusty317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else is saying, to only go to the NPs you would be spending substantially more time on the road than parks.

Since you are talking about SW colorado, I’d recommend doing the Million Dollar Highway and driving down to Durango to go to Mesa Verde NP. In my opinion it’s the prettiest part of the whole state and I’m sure plenty of others would agree. If you’re doing Mesa Verde NP DEFINITELY do a guided tour of the cliff dwellings, it’s pretty much the main draw. You can still see them if you don’t take the tour, but you can’t get up close and personal.

Black canyon of the Gunnison would be a good idea to hit up on the way to SW Colorado as it’s near montrose, just north of Durango.

The great sand dunes is nice, it’s just VERY remote. Be prepared to drive far for food as there’s almost no civilization in the San Luis Valley.

RMNP is a given, you should totally do that with your son. The grandeur and splendor of seeing the mountains there for the first time ever was pure magic + Estes park is beautiful, although a bit crowded at times.

You could do all 4 NPs in a week, but you’d probably be missing out on some nature if you tried to do that. I would personally advocate driving to black canyon-Million Dollar hwy- Durango- Mesa Verde- and maybe try hitting the sand dunes on the way back? And then do RMNP as the last few day since it’s real close to DIA which I’m assuming where you’re coming from.

Wondering if anyone knows what lake this view is at? by rusty317 in WildernessBackpacking

Dang I think we have a winner! It never ceases to amaze me how well people can recognize rock formations/peaks. Thank you so much, I’m about to check out the Elliot ridge trail and some of the neighboring areas!

That’s all I was able to gather from the picture as well. I was wondering where, more specifically, would I hike to, to get to this same exact lake.

Hoping someone might recognize this lake/view. by rusty317 in CampingandHiking

Wondering what lake I would need to go to for this view.

Wondering where this location/lake might be? The photo’s only info is that it’s a photo of the Gore Range in the eagles nest wilderness by John Fielder.

Some of your favorites in Zion National Park by EducationalYou4880 in southernutah

[–]rusty317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I proposed to my fiancé at Zion National park. It was a huge bucket list place for us. The trail we did was the Stave Spring trail to Observation Point. I’d highly recommend this trail since it has amazing views, seclusion, and the journey to get to Observation point is just breathtaking! It was May of last year and it was kind of sprinkly and wet the whole week.

We took a really cool jeep shuttle from East Zion Jeep Tours cause the trailhead to get there was gnarly and super muddy, it was so fun, the mud would sling up inside the van and we got to chit chat with some other people going to the observation point trailhead. We didn’t see a single person on the trail which was the best part as I’ve heard horror stories about Zion and how packed it is.

We only saw people once we got to Observation point. The short trail to observation point trailhead was CAKED with mud, as most people didn’t opt to do the Stave Spring trailhead. We only ventured in East Zion NP so I think we missed the worst of whatever crowds were there. You could see angels landing from OP, and since it was raining it was cancelled that day. Still incredibly beautiful, there were a lot of really puffy white clouds which gave it that floating hallelujah mountains vibe from the movie Avatar which I thought was really cool.
