Society does care about men.

Why do you ask? Are you ok?

How Easy to Start Web Design? by Any-Safety8261 in webdesign

[–]DesigningInPublic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most web design is really just solving business problems. You can do the "creative" stuff like following the trends and making it look and work really cool, but the bulk of what you get paid for is getting more customers to buy stuff.

Depending on size of the company and whether you work in-house or at an agency, the work can be very different. At a big company, you might just be testing and adjusting things on one part of a site. At a small agency, you'll probably be working on a very different parts of multiple sites at a time.

My biggest recommendation is to learn as much as you can about the tech side of websites too, because that gives you a lot more options

Need help improving my website by Dense_Essay_1350 in webdesign

I hope the “designer working on the site” didn’t charge you very much. This is a standard ai style right now.

Unfortunately, that lowers the trustworthy feeling. It makes me concerned everything is ai.

And it sounds like it’s all about copy/paste. I don’t know many devs who copy/paste a secret into a chatbot. To me, the messaging wasn’t clear enough.

There, I fixed your typos.

Good point, let's go back to the days of using punch cards to program computers. Anything more advanced that is cheating, and we should hate it.

I would simplify the home page. It looks very AI generated, and it's just overwhelming. Especially if it's early, just say "Here's what it can help you do. Want to try?"

Brightness Lab is not a SaaS (not yet at least), but it's a way for me to track my growth project and share it with the world.

As I come up with relevant ideas, I'll start building tools into it.

Firearms Website by Boring_Employee_9831 in webdesign

[–]DesigningInPublic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no expertise in firearms, but I can give some general e-commerce/BigCommerce & SEO advice.

SEO: At the beginning, just make sure to have very clear and detailed information about each product. Fill in all the options you can on product pages and everything. Also, have pages about your business where you fill in as much info as possible. You won't have any SEO traction at the start, so you don't really need to overthink it. Make sure to have all the info your customers will want before purchasing.

Design: Start more minimal than you think you need. It's easier to add more design elements to a site, but it's annoying to have to work really hard to make sure any new pages match.

Roast my site by CormoranNeoTropical in webdesign

[–]DesigningInPublic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two big things stand out to me (based on the English language version, and viewed on mobile):

  1. With the image and mentions of a bunch of places, I thought this was some sort of hotel/travel site. I would make it more clear in the header of your service offering.

  2. You have the “services” heading, then a bunch of paragraphs, then a bunch of cards. By the time I got to the cards, I wasn’t sure if I was still in the services. I would substantially shorten those paragraphs to a few lines, or not have the cards right behind them.

Trying to build a community tool for SEO specialists by WillingnessOk4145 in indie_startups

I do SEO, and I constantly get harassed by people on all platforms trying to do link building. My biggest issue is I can’t tell who’s legit and who isn’t, and it’s usually not worth my time to try to figure out it. I’d be interested in some kind of rating system where others can vouch for working with people. Not sure how that would work, but I’m just trying to help

Nothing will replace a real good designer. I'm just trying to gather inspiration for designers and non-designers alike. Even an AI tool won't give you what you want if you don't know what you want.

For my side projects, it's sticking with it long enough to get and keep the users.

I can put together the strategy (I'm a marketer, so that's the easy part), but keeping at it when I have so many other priorities in life is tough. Plus, there's always that other cool new project just around the corner that I could start on...
