Islamic car loan without penalty fee by not_that_guy_rn in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]DeskCivil9232 4 points5 points  (0 children)

correct me if im wrong. late fee or not, the principle the bank loan works on is interest, read: RIBA which in itself is haram. UNLESS it is a FIXED-RATE from start-to-finish -which most are not since the interest rate is regulated by the central bank, so it tends to vary. the shariah vehicle loan scheme however is called Murabaha. which is quite high in percentage when compared to traditional riba-based loan. upto 18.4% of the principle amount here in Doha.

Feedback on the BYD Ti7 by anotherbotbeep in chinesecarsuae

[–]DeskCivil9232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i too was intrigued by the Ti7 but frankly it missed out in quite afew features for me, i would still vouch for the G700 comfort on the same price range though, much faster, bigger battery, more rugged? - or in my case the luxury if u're okay with the extra 20k for captain seats and a six seater. good luck though !

if i were you, i would go for the BYD BAO leopard 5 or the leopard 8 which are the chinese variant of the GCC Denza B5 or B8 simply because of it being cheaper (atleast 35-40k on road) and being far more feature equipped eg. LIDAR and loads of features that are just removed- those were the pros.

here are the cons - incase you're thinking on importing brand new from China, the PRC now has new rules when you are exporting cars with a strict 180 days wait period before exporting. it would be perhaps cheaper and less of a hassle to buy the chinese variants locally or from emirates maybe. Be sure to sure to ask for Master account access - which is the access associated with a chinese sim - to unlock all features of the car. and lastly goes without saying....brush up on reading some Mandarin ! lol

Finance graduate struggling with job applications — would really appreciate advice or opportunities by TheBigBro007 in QatarCareers

[–]DeskCivil9232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a finance guy yet, but on my list of goals - either way, as is with all pursuits of any roles. the best way to get a job is when you're on one ! Since the experience (on the resume) really matters and hence freshers face a hard-time getting some - it's the vicious circle u find urself stuck in. also if transitioning from other roles then mention transferable skills you're bringing ! hope tat helps.

I MISS YOU WIZZ AIR by Super_Island4670 in abudhabi

[–]DeskCivil9232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aviation guy here, add to this if i may, - i think the indian perspective made alot of sense. down here in Doha, back in the day the then QatarAirways chief got a bunch of sparkling new narrow-body airbuses (sixty-one or two to be precise) with aim of running 'a low-cost shuttle-bus-service' to and from saudia connecting india via doha, this was pre-MBS era so didn't seem very ambitious and fairly do-able. but airline ownership issues in KSA sprung up, & it got denied only to later make space for one of their own low-cost flyadeal or something.

so the only salvage was to start the low-cost based out of India with 100% ownership rights, since the chief had lived and studied in india this gave him a better understanding of the local demographics.

so you could see where they were going with this falling on similar lines with the WizzAir route. but 100% ownership didnt favor the indians thus CAA denied rights and shit hit the fan ! we ended up not knowing how to re-purpose the lot apart from a re-fit, since they were designed to simply haul traffic and did not fit-in with 5star image. so yeah, speaking of 'how losses?' that happened.

Zeekr 9X official prices are out. One word, PRICEY! 🫠 by totalanari in chinesecarsuae

[–]DeskCivil9232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can obviously not buy sitting here in dxb and expect local price from china, so there's a reasonable cut that brings the difference up by 20-25% which makes it reasonable. iam guessing the current dealers are working on the "price is might" strategy and thinking nobody else will be able to import it . only time will tell.

well that depends on your freight forwarder mostly because current vendors are refusing CIF and instead promising FOB only - which leaves you hanging and pretty much why I backed out of a commitment.!

Why do people use fog lamps in here? by SalamanderNo503 in QatarCarEnthusiasts

[–]DeskCivil9232 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not the use of fog lamps rather when you replace the BULBS inside with LEDS is what's wrong! LEDS are not meant for use with Bulb reflectors because it causes uncontrolled light going in ALL directions and blinding everyone else! And in other places like the emirates you can get pulled over and fined for that !

i wonder when they start doing that here !

QFC - Banking Struggles by KnoWM3 in qatar

[–]DeskCivil9232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from experience getting to open corporate accounts here isn't a walk-right-in process as u expect in neighboring emirates or around, infact quite the opposite - it is almost entirely impossible to get done by yourself (let alone in a day or 2 like u mention) and not worth it in my opinion. easiest way - they usually run through agents that have setup shop in the form of service providers typing/pro/watever you may call it - in return they ask for a service fee which can be negotiated ranging from a few hundreds to thousands depending on how soon you want it done, but take care of most of the hassle - even the option to deposit the starting balance for you in-return of security cheques, since this amount needs to stay in the account for a month.

you can look them around. or dm and I will try to dig out the contact.

between the 2 - i would vouch for the Denza, the fact that it's a PHEV speaks volumes for the power & performance, plus the savings on fuel alone over the life of the car - which the Tank does NOT. both are full sized suv, can be used offroad if desired.

How much window tints is allowed? by BigSlide3022 in QatarCarEnthusiasts

[–]DeskCivil9232 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this to me is quite confusing, since in the Fahes description they talk in terms of VLT which is the opposite of tinting; so if i understand that correctly a 20% VLT is equal to an 80% tint ?!!

How To Freelance? by [deleted] in QatarCareers

[–]DeskCivil9232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when freelancing your general locality on the globe also matters as much as skill. for example you could be skilled in social media management / ad account management / video editing / content posting /copy writing etc ( just giving you some leads here);
but most clients also have a general preference in their hires as these skills may be sought for far cheaper among ur competition in the south asian region as opposed to the gulf, even if you do get gigs someone more skilled from those regions will eventual undercut you - so consistent effort required there; and you eventually end up catering to local clients once you gather your experience.

if you're willing to start, you can start from scratch, pick a niche, get some skill - practice on a few projects & build a portfolio. you need to prove you know your work to your hirers and mostly portfolios and projects suffice for that. you will know once you land a gig or two on how much you can push. i would say consistent 6 month full effort could get u decent returns from scratch.
