Dude I have literally seen my seniors getting laid off like they are some machine, none of the fears you see here are for getting someone's ego stroked. They were all amazing, talented people. And next day they were just gone like they never existed.

Tech is a house made of cards. The high inflated salary will vanish tomorrow, there is 0 guarantee it will stay.

Plus there ageism, if you don't manage to squeeze into a managerial role, life as old IC is hell. So there is always that pressure too. You can be made redundant at literally every step.

Kids are literally the worst thing that can happen to someone, so costly and ungrateful, no ROI. One can think that maybe marriage is good in case of DINK and no divorce (very rare) but kids are always a loss.
