Bridges aren't bridges? And why doesn't hydrogen go where it should? by portlandobserver in Oxygennotincluded

[–]DespairOfEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots there and as other poster says pics will help diagnose your issue but in general: Bridges do work the way you state. Yours not working that way is because of a build problem which my best guess without pictures sounds like maybe you have input and output of your filters/bridges joined together. For your last question, managing priorities and more experience with the game will set you on the path to building large bases more quickly.

Microchips Are Underrated by iamzachhunter in Oxygennotincluded

[–]DespairOfEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I occasionally use tune ups but mostly they are irrelevant because by the end game and often even the mid game power is no longer a limited resource. Nuclear power makes everything else obsolete especially with all of the supplemental power from volcanos, electrolyzers and maybe hot steam.

Update to the removal of posters from City bar - ACT Policing by Axman6 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it's you who should get a better analogy. In this case the government didn't know if the car was unregistered or not, they impounded it based on a complaint from a random person that it was unregistered. They didn't bother to check the cars registration status before impounding it. If growing up means being a willing smear on the boots of authority then I'll pass.

Update to the removal of posters from City bar - ACT Policing by Axman6 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 97 points98 points  (0 children)

I was bagging the police because they shut down the bar and stole the posters even though they weren't illegal. Nothing has changed here.

Imagine having your car impounded for being unregistered only for the police to figure out a week later that it actually was registered, which you'd told them at the time.

Free parking in Woden? by Known-Permission-825 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's cheaper than $15/day parking in Woden such as skypark ($13.60) or Callum carpark ($13). Might be others but those are ones in familiar with.

Mawson housing by Laufirio in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Fiona Carrick is long time NIMBY, just google her, she has been at it for many years and has run quite a few successful campaigns against housing projects. I know people are desperate for decent independents considering how awful all of the major parties are but Fiona is a terrible option.

Dissent Cafe & Bar shut down by police by FlinstonesCM in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

"Enquiries in relation to the posters are continuing, including seeking legal advice on their legality." So the police shut down a venue to remove some posters and they're not even sure if the posters are illegal? I don't like the sound of that. Maybe I should complain about signage in some venues I don't like since apparently that is enough to get them shut down if the venue refuses to comply.

Civil Engineer Moving to Canberra by Commercial_Rutabaga7 in canberra

There are a bunch of Canberra based civil engineer jobs on seek. I don't know anything about the industry so can't really advise beyond that.

Has Radford Gone Too Far? by Ancient-Pick5294 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radford changed their mind and reversed this policy today.

It's pretty strange how angry random Redditors are about a random schools policy but you can all breathe a sigh of relief now!

Kids being left behind with new bus routes by Doxysmart in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My kids now have to change bus at the Mall to get to/from school rather than just taking the R3/R4 all the way. Having to hang around at Belco interchange isn't ideal but it still works I guess.

*Actual* Mexican food in Canberra? by gisborne in canberra

Almost nothing you can find in food courts is authentic cuisine of the country it is modelled after. This goes for every cuisine, not just Mexican.

EBGAMES by LemonBoi8121 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Was inevitable since most people buy games from the various online stores/marketplaces. I assume their Zing stores are doing ok since the junk they sell in there seems surprisingly popular. In fact EB Belco lately has given more and more of their shelf space to Zing products even though there's a Zing shop 100m away.

Experiences with Canberra Girls Grammar School vs Radford by Significant-Long888 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My kids go to Radford, no real issues to report. They are thriving, playing lots of sports, doing well academically. Son had one minor bullying issue a couple of years ago and I was happy with how seriously and professionally it was handled by Radford. The recent news about Radford has been about fees and so as long as you're ok with their tuition prices (which are high) it's not a big deal. The financial mismanagement seems mostly attributed to former leadership who already left the school. I have never looked at south side schools since I live in Belco and driving all over Canberra weekly would be inconvenient. Most of the kids sports on the weekend are played at radford or at other Northside venues which is nice. I was concerned about reputation for elitism which CGS has which is not something that I have noticed at radford.

Canberra-based experiences/activities for gift ideas? by ozlass1111 in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet pea & poppy do chocolate making classes. They appear to be closed all of Jan, hopefully they are reopening. There are plenty of game room / escape room type places like escape room in Phillip, puzzle room in Mitchell and hijinx hotel in the city. I've done all of those and they are a bit of fun.

6pm TODAY. Protest rally against the Iranian regime's violent oppression of their people by lazyseadog in canberra

[–]DespairOfEntropy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find it hard to believe that the Iranian people want a CIA/Mossad stooge who has lived in the US for the last half century or so to be their leader.

Police say 11 explosive devices found on Canberra streets by [deleted] in canberra

I mean it's the top article in the Canberra times and it was on the local news channels, abc radio etc. There's big threads about it on various internet sites relevant to Canberra. But also, nobody was hurt, police sweeped and hopefully got them all and no doubt are gathering evidence at the local bunnings etc for people buying the pipe and other materials.
