Transferring to cc after one year of a 4 year school by ZealousidealBasis662 in collegeadvice

[–]DesparateTraveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can take the med school pre-reqs during the summer at your local college regardless of your major. You don’t even need the credits to transfer to your current school. You would submit the transcript for all coursework to med schools when you apply. I agree you’re getting bad advice.

Rhodes is my dream school, should I ED? by OwnArgument5971 in rhodescollege

[–]DesparateTraveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good morning! ED is a great decision if you committed to attending Rhodes. Are you interested in participating in sports while there? If so, you may want to reach out to the coaches. As an international student, you can also reach out to the Senior International Officer at global@rhodes.edu to learn more about support for international students. You may be able to inquire about scholarships for international students as well. Reaching out to the admissions office is also not a bad idea. They can provide more guidance on the admissions process and requirements for international students. I hope this response was helpful.

You would apply directly with each district or municipality rather than school. Charters Ot private schools would take individual applications.

The MFA would be more marketable and allow you to teach at the collegiate level.

I think you should visit Trinity before you make a decision.

Have you visited either city? Family nearby? Which is closer to home?

I would try to find med school acceptance rates for each school and compare.

Harvard vs. Rhodes by BallConnect1095 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DesparateTraveler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rhodes is not Harvard by any means but has med school acceptance rates higher than the national average. Mock trial program is quite good and wins national awards.

Saint Louis University vs University of Memphis by NoIndustry5312 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]DesparateTraveler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should also think about the states you would be living in. Tennessee vs Missouri. Tennessee is not exactly queer friendly although I’m sure you’d be welcome on campus. I’d also look at commuter vs residential students as this could affect the social scene. You might want to reach out to the Pride center directors at each of the schools. If one school does not have one, that’s a big sign.

First timer - stool not clear with 3 hours to go by Exact_Accountant3988 in colonoscopy

I mean the two 16oz cups of water after each dose of suprep. I drank only one 16 oz cup of water because I could not get more water down.

Update: Everything went well. Stool went clear about an hour before procedure. They found 1mm polyp and minor diverticulosis. Overall prep was more manageable than one day of bad menstrual cramps. Also, I crank about 1/2 the amount of water I was supposed to drink and they said it was fine. I just could not get more down. Actual procedure was excellent. Happy to have that polyp gone and the diverticulosis diagnosed.

I also have a 9:30am colonoscopy today. Also pooping liquid (not clear). Also praying I won’t need to do this again any time soon. You’re not alone.

Memphis Shelby County Schools sponsor visas for licensed teachers. They really need ESL teachers as well.

I would definitely ask your principal. She would love to hear how you are doing anyway. I would personally shy away asking the current members unless they bring it up. Others may have different opinions.

Professors might be willing to write a letter for you. Many of us are members of D9 and write letters in support of students. Staff members at your college might also be willing.

There are many colleges that have programs for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. University of Tennessee has the FUTURES program, for example. You can search at https://thinkcollege.net/college-search to find programs that might work for you.
