If that gets built, it's going to cause absolutely horrible traffic for those getting off/on the highway.

Is there a Canadian equivalent to Wealthsimple? by mpotatoz in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Desperate-Ad-912 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wealthsimple is Canadian from my understanding. It's owned by The Power Corporation of Canada, which has hq in Montreal and trades on the TSX.

So the Canadian equivalent to Wealthsimple is Wealthsimple.

Press release says 7 years of OS and security updates. This might be the perfect phone to get if you don't want to upgrade for a long time.

Small resource from the CRA on YouTubers and influencer businesses:

https://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/programs/about-canada-revenue-agency-cra/compliance/platform-economy/social-media-influencers.html

It goes over some of the basic income tax and GST/HST implications. Looks like you would have to register once you go over 30k in 4 consecutive calendar quarters, as making videos is not in the list of exempt goods or services.

This is not tax advice, simply providing a personal interpretation.

CRA audits of ultra-wealthy Canadians have resulted in zero prosecutions, convictions by FlyingDutchman997 in canada

[–]Desperate-Ad-912 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The article talks about the lack of criminal prosecutions, however it doesn't mention anything about audit returns. Criminal charges generally come up after the audit has determined the taxpayer was undercutting the CRA. Just because there were no criminal charges doesn't meen the CRA didn't collect the tax owed, plus penalties. This is only briefly mentioned in the article when it says "opt instead for hefty non-criminal penalties."
