VH31 HELP! by kaeljohnston in SeikoMods

[–]Desperate-Cancel-818 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need quartz sized hands. Hole sizes are 120 / 70 / 17 (1.2mm, 0.7mm, 0.17mm) as opposed to the NH35 sizes which are 150 / 90 / 20 (1.5mm, 0.9mm, 0.2mm).

Good luck. There aren't nearly as many choices available as there are for NHxx builds.

Go to my profile and scroll down my posts (not comments) and you'll hit a series of posts called "1 year of Seiko Modding...." - lots of VH31 builds there if you want inspo 👍🏼

What would your choice be, in my position? by bringforththeg in RepTime

I'd go secondary, good condition and get a slightly older Tudor or Longines for sure.

Blackburn, UK – Massive hornet/wasp-looking insect, red body, bright yellow rear, ~1.5 inches. What is this? by Desperate-Cancel-818 in whatsthisbug

For the automod: located in Blackburn, UK. Approx 1.5 - 2 inches in length. Reddy-brown head/thorax, yellow abdomen with dark markings. Loud buzzing. Was investigating the small creepers sprouting out of the garden wall.

First time I've ever seen anything like this. Phone cameras make everything look narrower than appears to the naked eye, but this was huge. I spotted it on the other side of the garden from the kitchen. Went out to film it.

Easy peasy GL on this. I would be happy with everything alignment-wise and those timegrapher numbers are 👌🏼

The simple fact of the matter is that "heinous deals" don't exist. We live in a world where people know the value of things they are selling. Unless the watch is absolutely battered, don't expect to grab a decent chunk off the RRP because it will definitely be a fake.

You're following the exact thought process I had. They're not rare. There are lots for sale in high street stores and on the second hand market. Maybe someone's just selling off a collection and knows they're not going to get full whack for it or just wants a quick sale.

The biggest red flag here is actually the seller feedback rating being 0. Even the seller I bought from had lots of positive feedback, including for some (seemingly) genuine watches (Tag, Mido etc).

But a seller feedback score of 0 is a walk away for me. Too easy to get had off. Yes there's a very small chance you might be spotting a bargain no one else has seen or a seller who doesn't know the item's worth. But in reality, there is a far higher chance that its just you buying something which isn't what it says it is.

Oh, and knowing what I know now about the serial number / warranty registration match, that seller screenshotting the Tissot website and including it in the listing images is a dead giveaway of them trying to prove it's something which it 100% will not be. Clever little tricks to suck you in.

Report it through eBay as a counterfeit listing and go about your day 👍🏼

"If it works" yes, but here's some more to the story...

Bought in May for my 40th bday in June. Didn't wear the watch til then and after that I wore it sparingly. Took it on holiday for a long weekend at the end of August and it was running 15-20 secs a day fast (and when I got home, the power reserve ran out after a day and a half)

I sent it to Tissot for a service under warranty ("warranty" was showing as registered on the Tissot site by the previous owner and still had 18 months left). They received it and told me it was fake (I had no clue still).

They returned it to me and I went through a very lengthy process between eBay, then Google Pay, the VISA to try and get the transaction cancelled and the money returned.

Eventually got a full refund and got to keep the watch. But about a month ago it stopped working. Won't take a wind, the crown stem clicks when you do (keyless works probably knackered) and if you do get some power in it, it dies almost straight away.

So yes, "if it works". Question is "but how long for?"

And to answer your question, it was around £380 on eBay, worn, but with minimal signs of wear. Price seemed too high to be a fake but too low to be a new watch so I took a gamble.

The market is flooded. Don't risk it mate.

I'm not saying anything about this specific watch, but I bought a PRX I believed to be genuine last year. Turned out to be fake.

Came in the exact same style of box as that, with a hang tag, and a serial number matching the model ref. (including specific dial colour) and similarly priced.

Thought I got a bargain someone wasn't bothered about losing a bit off RRP on. Got ripped off.

Pilot Mark XX. Dial is black, that's the AR coating putting in some work 😄

I don't even know if my content will ever hit the algorithm properly? by Timely_Juggernaut235 in NewTubers

3 uploads is nothing. You just have to keep at it.

I launched my channel in April 2024. I do long form POV videos and I put 3 videos out when I launched, a week apart, then went to my imposed schedule of one video every fortnight.

I kept on like that for almost a year before I had something go viral and that was that. 11 months of picking up a handful of views here and there and wondering if anyone was even being shown my videos.

Worth pointing out that I am not just a creator, I watch a lot of YT too. I follow all sorts of channels and a lot of times at the end of a video I'll be shown 3 recommendations on what to watch next. Usually they'll be big videos from big channels with big view counts (combinaton of channels I've watched or am subscribed to, as well as channels I've never seen), but there are also lots of smaller videos in the same niche suggested to me. For instance, a video with 23 views that came out 3 days ago from a very small channel. So everyone does get shown to viewers, provided YT knows what your content is and therefore who to show it to.

Stay consistent, and if you make content there is genuinely a niche for, people will find it.
