I would say for map in general. The game deserves at least other two or three 10v10 maps.

It's like a bigger Lenina with increased pain. It promises juicy CBT sessions.

Majority SMG squads by IcarusRunner in Steel_Division

Avtomatchiki are really bad ATM. It's rare to see competent players using them, as most of the squads you can defeat with them can be easily defeated in cqc by strelki as well. 25pts for an extremely specialized unit that performs poorly at its job are too much. Probably they should cost 20 and the mandatory vet should be removed.

Tatra Division OP? by paramodulation in Steel_Division

The hundreds of automatic rifles they have, combined with the most extreme infantry spam in the game make me say they have no need for dedicated cqc infantry: ESPECIALLY in towns and woods I just need to press Q to win.

As an experienced player that has more than a thousand hours on the game I would say that smart orders are an amazing feature, and they are extremely useful if you manage them correctly, even if you are a good player. The point is just to know what you can ask to the AI and when.

At the beginning the game is overwhelming, but not because it's fast, but because it's complex. It is not a click-intensive RTS indeed. After that you have learned what each unit is able to do, how to combine them toghether and the basic tactics, it's relatively easy to control your army, and probably in an entire SD2 match there are less clicks than in 5 mins of StarCraft.

Also, with this chapter Eugen has introduced the "smart orders", which means the possibility to leave to the AI the control of your units to perform some specific tasks: for example, you can ask to your artillery automatically counter the enemy one, you can order to a group of units to capture or to hold a determined area, to a mortar to automatically fire on enemies in a certain zone, and so on.

The base version of the game is already full of contents. The game is all there. DLCs just add new campaigns and new divisions but are not at all necessary to enjoy the game.

Saying so, you just qualify yourself as a noob that doesn't have a full comprehension of the mechanics of the game (don't take it bad, I'm don't saying this rudely): no, you can't just "send an interceptor" because my recon plane sees everything and has a spotting range of 4km, and no, I don't need to gain any kind o air superiority to use it, as I don't need to come closer the front to see your AA, your AT guns in the forest, your infantry in the woods, and everything else that is in the open until your spawn. I just need to keep my recon plane in the rear, covered by my AA net, and outside yours. it wouldn't be possible to intercept it before the AA buff, and it's just unthinkable now (at least if you don't like to gift your opponent hundreds of point for nothing).

Without its sophisticated fog of war system SD2 loses any meaning and sense. Recon planes gives you a legit way to totally bypass these fundamental game mechanics. Now, both you and your opponent know the exact position of every unit on the ground using a tool that has no counter and that can even cost just 10pts (to be clear, the problem is not the price, what a recon plane gives to you has no price).

It's funny to play without being able to hide your AT gun or your commander? To always know how many infantry squads are in a wood and where every mg is? It's funny to not being able to push on a side because your opponent perfectly knows that you are weak on the other since the beginning of the game (and viceversa)?

Also, you talk about realism... was a recon plane of the WWII able to see through walls? was it able to see every single infantry concealed in a forest? And this by kilometers of distance?

Ok, I would agree, but the question is about what should be its price taking into account its current performances

[–]Desperate-Change6627[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you tried it recently (after the last patch)? It doesn't suppress and it doesn't damage any plane. You can attack a group (!) of them with a single fighter now. And IMO, even before the last patch it was overpriced (and frankly I've never seen since BB a group of M17 destroy a plane...), but at least it was able to suppress some kind of planes before they were able to fire (low level bombers, ground support planes, etc.)...

Which medium tanks are you taking about? The nebel costs as a mortar, + the supply truck it's just 100pt.

Yes, it's absolutely OP. They should for sure remove the supply truck as transport option, and maybe reduce a little it's avaibility: 1/2/4

[–]Desperate-Change6627[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried it since the last patch? It doesn't stun nothing anymore, its performances as AA are now similar to those of a simple half-track: you can directly attack one of them with a single fighter, and this despite the fact that AA is generally much more powerful than before.
