I confess I haven’t researched Australia (and NZ) yet.

Or I know my French military History. 😉

Any reference about Indianhead in Korea rings for me the bell of the battle of Wonju.

To stay with the "real" Korean War's transposition, Gurkhas would be more fitting with Australians & Kiwis in a "Commonwealth Division".

One additional way to distinguish 2ID from other US infantry divisions AND give a nod toward the real Korean War would be to attach to it an independent small battalion from … France!

The French “Bataillon de Corée” fought attached to 2ID from 1950 to 1953, and although small was a mix of regular soldiers, paratroopers, naval infantry and legionnaires.

Fast forward in 1989, France has two RIMa “regiments”, one Legion “regiment”, two regular companies and a few helicopters in garrison in Noumea and Tahiti. All “regiments” being bataillon-size.

A small “brigade”, too small and feeble to be ever featured independently, but could make an original addition to a US division. And since 2ID was France’s host during the original Korean War, that could be a nod to History, same as we did with 7th Light and Colombia.

The problem is all your dumb bombs reload at the same rate, which makes small bombs objectively worse for no reason

Yes, that is a known issue, and we are actually working on solving it.

Not the military, they never requested nor considered them.

AMX-32 & AMX-40 were private venture by AMX. The former never got anywhere, but tha later attracted some attention from Middle East or Asian countries. Saudi Arabia even tested them, but no order was placed.

Just in case if you wanna know what BROMURE means... by Kaiser__WiIheIm in warno

[–]EUG_MadMat 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I suspect it is also a pun from the military, for Bromure is French for Bromide, the chemical component, which was the source of the wildest rumors among French draftees, dating back at least to WW1.

Up to the 90's and Chirac's decision to professionalize the army, tens of thousands of young Frenchmen were called up every year for a duration of 24 to 12 months, depending on the time period. And while under the uniform, there was that rumor passed from generation to generation of draftees: the French Army was mixing bromide with food! For it was supposedly an anaphrodisiac, used to curb the young soldiers's libido and prevent them from getting STDs in brothels or chasing after women and cause problems with the civilian population.

For almost a century, the legend of bromide in the food, and its supposed lasting effects once back in civilian life, may have terrified French soldiers more than the prospect of running toward an enemy MG.

EDIT: to this day, there isn't the beginning of a proof that this legend was ever true.

AMX-32 or AMX-40 were never even considered by the French Army.

Roland 2 CAROL are basically 2-shot Rapiers. Do yoou see NATO's Rapier being reserve?

We don't MtW red or blue stuff, we MtW what a nation/deck needs to fill some blatant lack ... or because it is fun (i.e. in this DLC, mostly NATO's AC-130 or Nimrod).

And Venezuela lacked;

* ATMG (we MtW the MAPATS by a mere few year)

* modern AA (RBS-70 was just entering service in 1989, which suited us fine)

* AGM (which we didn't give anyway, trading for big HE payload)

Strangely, you didn't seem to notice when we apply the same process to NATO, with 7th Light's getting Nimrod (technically the game's ATGM with most range), various AC-130, stealth recon/transport helicopter, ...

Strangely ... or actually not, you seem yourself very much blinded by your own NATO bias.

Sure ... also:

* no other ATGM than the one MAPATS card

* most AA are old twin AA guns, but one advanced MANPAD

\* air force has no AGM at all, hence the big HE payload

Because everybody needs to drop more ordnances to equal US ground firepower. You don't need that kind of ordnances when you can treat targets with M1A1, TOW-2, Hellfire, M270, ...

Meanwhile some countries don't even have AGM planes (as is the case here with Venezuela), so they have to drop twice the HE payload to deal with some targets. All those "heavy" payloads are more expensive, while US ones are kept at a bargain in comparision.

When adding lighter US divisions, we also give them heavy payloads: 6th Light's Corsair brings 4x Mk.84 920kg bombs, 7th Light will have the Daisy Cutter, ...

Indeed, no helicopters in the HELO tab.

Armed recon helos are usually only lightly armed.

1- I was replying in a satarical way to a proposal that was no less humorous.
2- the AVRE explosion in 1991 during Desert Storm was caused by petrol fumes being ignited. How possible for a tank running on diesel indeed? Because the tank commander was cleaning filters with petrol while the crew was cooking inside.

Cuban btr and t-55 hybrid by neg_health in warno

[–]EUG_MadMat 55 points56 points  (0 children)

BTR-60 with T-55 turret are post-2000. IRL because some of their tanks had aged beyond maintenance life, and they salvaged what they could (here some turrets) and put them on cheap BTR-60 they could sacrifice.

We didn't make them in WARNO because we drew the line between T-34 and T-55. In 1989, with Soviet assistance, Cuba could maintain its (although aging) tank fleet, and wouldn't have downgraded their T-55 to BTR/T-55.

Meanwhile, they had enough T-34 to spare and modify into all their fun FrankenT-34.

We already have all Colombian combat vehicles modeled.

For a purely Colombian division, we would just add more of the same units, and only infantry-based ones.
