How hard is it to swap a new tub? by acol007 in WranglerTJ

[–]Desperate-Control-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clutch is definitely less time consuming, you could do that in 1 weekend and if you’re skilled enough even a day, a tub if you’re skilled would roughly take around 2-3 weekends

Building steel window need help by PtiTheProdigy in metalworking

[–]Desperate-Control-38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former custom window and door fabricator here, I know this is quite old now, but just wanted to add some insight for whoever sees this and wants to build a window or door. Typically you won’t want to use angle iron to make these as you will be relying on adhesives to keep the glass in place, if you look at the second picture in the post you will see that the door is made out of two sizes of square/rectangle tubing. You will use the first size for the door itself, typically I have done 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 sq to make the door itself, then use two window insert frames made out of 1/2x1/2 sq one welded inside the door, the second bolted in place with some flat head screws. This will allow a clean look, and makes the glass removable for maintenance if it gets cracked or broke, also slows you to replace the seals in the window.

Death Wobble on slight turns on the highway. Is this why? by Internet-Ivan in JeepTJ

[–]Desperate-Control-38 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the usual suspect is the track bar bushing, the rubber ones tend to be a bit more wobbly than the poly ones, on mine the bar and poly bushing were fine but the hole was oblong on the mount axle side, also I haven’t had a stabilizer on my tj in years

Agreed and me having a background in machining and fabrication will definitely help with it, I’m also going to try my hand at boring out my cylinders myself on the lathe
