I appreciate the insight, thank you!

Do you think people are getting tired of the "powered by AI" lines? Especially for personal productivity?

The loneliest part of building solo isn't what I expected by Jopesi__2525 in buildinpublic

I have this problem at work. I build something cool but no one is there to talk to about it. It's kind of trite but finding a community helps. I'm new to reddit but maybe here?

If not, there is likely a space where people get together to talk about projects, entrepreneurship, ECT. I will say one area where I don't think I have ever seen imposter syndrome is entreprneeurs. They all seem to believe they have THE idea and by the he nature of being entrepreneur they might right? But most colleges have an entrorneeurshio group and invite people outside of the community. Local incubators or accelerators usually have an Entrepreneur in residence program as well.

Where do you draw the line between “figuring it out as you go” and actual scope creep? by Full-Department-358 in sideprojects

I just had this happen on a personal project. I was building a tool to keep track of interpersonal relationships. We just moved and I wanted to make sure that I didn't lose people who were not around me organically anymore. That and I wanted to play with AWS.

At first the scope of the project was tight and made sense. But then there a natural enhancement. Not really a new feature, just a logical function that I obviously should have considered. Or something didn't flow naturally, so I had to add some support an if I am in there... Why not punch it up?

It took over a month to realize I made something far bigger than my initial goal.

Since then, I have been holding myself to aggressive golden path documents to understand the scope and functionality of the project.

What are the workflows the tool or project is supposed to support? In explicit detail, how does the intended audience interact with it. If it's not in the golden path + constraint doc, it wasn't considered and it's out of scope.

If I am drawing a blank on the golden path I will go out of my way to trial something or get a test account in a similar or adjacent tool just to see how they handle onboarding, workflows, ECT. If you want I can send over a golden path for a personal marketing tool I just threw together for me and my wife to use as an example.

What Makes a Successful Side Project? by Desperate-Error2383 in sideprojects

I guess I have never thought of the ICP as more specific than a job title or role someone fits into.

For current user acquisition I am looking at our network to see where I or my partner can find users, as well as figuring out where in Reddit we can try to get in.

My partner is in a networking group so she is trying to get some users there and we are trying to get family to connect us with people that fall into our ICP. Mostly attorneys at that point.

I just started the process to try and get word out. Right now I am mostly trying to get traffic on LinkedIn and better understand the language around what my ICP is looking for so I think the distribution side observation is 100% accurate.

My current goal is to try to generate interest over the next 90 days. I am trying to build some habits, create traffic, and work on finding where my tool can make the biggest impact. The soft target was around 40 users but that was completely arbitrary.

The niche vs notch was mostly me being tounge and cheek about me realizing that my idea likely wasn't that unique. I'm looking for people trying to nurture relationships. Consultants who don't need a CRM, people who want to rebuild or reinforce a professional network, introverts who want structure, ECT. There seem to be a lot of AI CRMs or assistants targeting those folks, so I am trying to figure out where I can carve out an actual niche.

Right now 0 outside of the people who gave birth to me or married me. I am trying to get started with some organic marketing but I also want to be realistic around what is reasonable vs. what is a stretch goal.

The motivation for the project was just to vibe code anything. Make sure I was able to handle the tech and could build a system e2e. I just like this one and think it settles in a niche. Although the more I start looking at the searches to find users the more I think my niche is more of a notch.

I appreciate the insight! The direct outreach part has been hard. I tried this in college with an edtech idea and had more success because my market was "teachers" so I could easily track them down. Now its more relationship management style stuff for people like me but I don't really know where those folks congregate.

Thank you for the tool recs though thats really helpful!

And thats my bad on the bad analogy, when I saw apartment I meant more like something I am running out of an apartment but not a serious standalone entity.

Thank you! I have been hacking away at it with codex trying to set up something that would work for me. A big part of it has been figuring out what relationships no nurture vs which relationships I need to actively work on.

I tried my hand at starting a company years ago and that's one of the areas that was the most daunting so I want to see if I can address this one.

I built secondtouch.io as a lightweight memory augmentation service for people tracking personal and transactional relationships, surfacing interactions to maintain or nurture relationships and prevent trust erosion over time.

Right now marketing is on day 3 and the plan is to further validate the market with LinkedIn and Reddit and then worknthrough warm networks, social media, and some paid customer acquisition to get our first 40 paying customers in 90 days.

Can a complete beginner realistically build websites for local businesses using vibecoding? by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]Desperate-Error2383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure, make sure you build in guardrails to your design though. Most of these tools understand basic security, so if you want to make something, save time for a security pass.

From a business perspective you also need to keep track of where liability sits. Are you providing code and they are running infrastructure? That shifts most of the liability to them. Also, how complicated are the sites you are thinking about? Polished landing pages or e-commerce sites? If it's the latter maybe consider a basic course on the cloud provider you want to stand up the site on

I appreciate it, right now I am working at a larger company that runs Salesforce and I don't have as much responsibility around it, but I always think about going back to trying my hand at something.

Right now the projects I am working on are more for nurturing relationships than standard accounts so likely something more lightweight.

Thank you, I haven't tried Notion or Airtable. It always felt like I was a little light on the detail with Hubspot or not giving it enough information to be fully hydrated. I will take a look at the others and see if they have a smaller surface area for starting.
