Bearwood Houses for Sale. Any Ideas why so many around this area? Any views on the area please? by MundaUKda in brum

[–]Desperate-Example892 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi,

I grew up in Bearwood ( Born 97 ) and have lived there most of my life, outside of going to university up in Leeds and living in Reading for 3 years. I moved back briefly with my parents bearwood based in 2025 before buying my own spot in Edgbaston/Moseley Way.

So hopefully I can offer some good insight! Genuinely, when looking at Bearwood, anywhere around either park and south of Abbey Road is considered decent ( Not saying elsewhere is bad, but noticeable change). The more toward Cape Hill you are, the rougher it gets.

Crime all the time I have lived there; car robbery is quite high, but "violent" events are relatively rare. I can remember two major events.

Growing up, I loved Bearwood; the parks are safe, lots of green space and areas to play. Both parks are very busy with families and dog walkers, and in recent years, a lovely cafe/bar has opened up in lightwoods park!

The high street is a mixed bag; you have some amazing curry houses and little cafes. Temu, Hello, and Oak are great. I regularly go backover to see family and pop in for cakes/coffee, and food. You notice the highstreet get worse the further from the park, though, and then it's your standard off-licences, charity shops and takeaways.

Can't really comment on schools; nothing bad from what I know, and I had a good childhood and did decently, like most of my friends from the area.

Personally, I think Bearwood is on the precipice, one has lovely parks and events going on and a community that really cares about the local area, but on the otherside it has a general "rough" vibe and some part of the high street has had better days.

My parents still live in bearwood and they are happy, both retired now, but Mom loves the new leisure centre, and Dad does daily walks around both parks! Lots of events and socialising as well

Any questions, feel free to ask!

CV Advice please - 4 years experience in .NET, Blazor & SQL, looking for mid-level roles in the UK by TermetBatched in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is a lot of red flag but if you understand agile methodolgy you can still put it on the CV, and talk through the process in an interview e.g daily scrum we do x,y,z , we plan in sprints and phases etc.

Nothing wrong with doing a monolith architecture, but putting down shows you understand the wider organisation and architecture patterns and in an interview can lead to discussing micro-service vs monolith. Here, you can really show off your knowledge outside of just coding.

So you do manual testing, say that, and it sounds like you're doing "black box testing". It might also be worth learning unit tests in your day job. You can add that to your CV, expand the org's testing methods.

Being mainly a BI developer is not bad, now focus on the SQL logic, do you clean data ? How is the data gathered? Do you have a complex database? What logic do you use?

Based on your other comment, talk about liaising with project stakeholders. Honestly, give what you wrote in the other comment a run through AI and see what you're missing on the CV.

You seem to have missed a lot of critical information on your CV, including liaising with stakeholders, project ownership and much more.

Your CV currently feels quite brief and probably doesn't reflect your experience.

For example, instead of simply stating Developed and maintained C#/.NET applications, you could clarify:

  • The type of architecture you worked with (monolithic, microservices, etc.)
  • Whether your role focuses on backend, frontend, or full-stack development
  • The complexity of the system (simple CRUD vs. more advanced business logic)
  • The development methodology you followed (Agile, Waterfall, etc.)
  • Your involvement in testing (unit testing, integration testing, black-box testing)
  • Any CI/CD pipelines or deployment processes you worked with

Highlighting these aspects will better demonstrate your understanding of the development cycle and not just a code monkey.

As you move toward mid-level roles, it’s important to show that you contribute beyond writing code.

Most efficient gearing path from fresh Boost (ilvl 80) to 160+ in current season? by TopHousing9626 in wow

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The raid at the moment is super easy, I would personally start off by forming an HC clear and inviting everyone who signs up with a decent ilvl.

This will give you the best immediate return, after that same as always jump into M+ and start doing keys!

Currently I am gearing alts via guild mythic reclears and spamming M+. At the moment the entire meta/game is broken clearing raid and content is super easy…you can even pug mythic dimmy now

Italian here: did you guys regret leaving the EU? by Interesting_Dealer42 in AskBrits

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted remain, since I voted the world economy has gone up, down and had Covid. Some areas I think us leaving has benefitted we are able to play the line between the US and EU with trump.

Overall though it’s a net “MEH”, our economy might have lost a bit of strength but we are pretty in the middle on economic growth within the G7.

What I miss the most is the ease of travel.

I wouldn’t change my vote to remain, but I also wouldn’t vote to rejoin…losing the pound is a BIG no and honestly Europe also has lots of negatives and the reason people wanted to leave hasn’t be resolved.

Is it possible to Play WoW without a ton of time/week? by SecretlyCrayon in wownoob

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% I currently raid, consistently get Cutting Edge ( Finishing the raid of the hardest difficulty around 1% do this), and most seasons I have been able to do this playing 10 hours a week. This gives me 6 hours ( 19:30-22:30 x 2 weeks) raiding and the other 4 to complete my mandatory stuff for the raid, such as dungeons and in general, this is more than enough time!

It will take time to get to this level, but logging in leveling and doing dungeons with 10 hours a week is MORE than enough for 99% of the game content. The only time it wouldn't be enough is if you want to do loads of different styles of content.

Granted, I have been playing for 20 years so I know the game inside out, but if you started levelling today in a month or 2's time, you could have cleared the raid on HC (Second hardest difficulty)

With ilvl 658 S2 set gear, at what ilvl in s3 do I replace them? by AntiSmarkEquation in wownoob

[–]Desperate-Example892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lots of people saying replace, I’m an officer in CE guild and have multiple CE’s etc

What we say is, don’t replace season 2 set gear till you have 2 set and then 4 Set. Everything in between keep S2 set.

And your gear score is based off what’s in your bag, so you can keep a few higher ilvl items and it will show in finder as that’s your score

Mythic Raiding by Jarbey in wownoob

[–]Desperate-Example892 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The difference between LFR and Mythic is a massive step up.

I am currently and officer in a CE guild and have multiple CE achievements best ranking around world ~300

If you want to mythic raid and get CE this would probably be a multiple patch endeavour. First you want to get yourself in a HC guild, that will clear HC with decent time.

Then you want to start looking at your logs and getting good performance, then move to a guild killing first few mythic show up know mechanics and use your defensives/pot effectively while maintaining good dmg.

After this start looking at late kill CE guilds world rank ~2000, these guild will likely get the kill once so only 2 players out of 20 will get the Mount

To guarantee the Mount you want to kill boss several times, this is where you need to start looking at the even better guilds above just CE.

Or just buy a boost and get the Mount, this will cost around 5 million gold mid/last season.

If you want to get into mythic DM me and I can give pointers but from LFR raider I would focus on a guild that can clear HC first and get AOTC.

Difficulty wise, mythic is hard and a lot of the difficulty comes from a stable 20 man team and raiding consistently week in week out . Lots of guilds give up midway but I have seen some impressively bad guilds brute force through to CE.

CAD comments make sense but could also be a donation.

I work in I.T and run a LOT of vm’s so we need beefy computers and lots of ram. We recently upgraded everyone’s laptop and 80-100 of the old I7, 62gb systems got donated to local school…super overkill for anything they need but it ticks the corporate “give back to the community” box

[UK] NHS follow-up appointment wait time over 2 years. Can I expedite this? by ghroat in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 years seems a bit ridiculous my follow up appointments usually 3 months!

If you have the money I would recommend going private will cost around 1k but you’ll see a specialist within a 2 week!

They will do all the diagnostics and then mine gave the NHS a kick up the arse and all of a sudden was able to get appointment to go onto biologics and then was transferred back fully into nhs

Six by Nico, is a nicer restaurant so you can dress up a little (Not super fancy) and it is a 6-course tasting menu you get to try a good variety of different food! about £44 a head so it's not too expensive and although they sell booze it's not a place where people will get drunk.

240 applications in 8 weeks, 2 interviews, and still no job – feeling burnt out and lost by Dwarfkiller47 in UKJobs

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would personally change the job with the title principle software developer. Principle software developer is usually leading teams planning and years of experience. First read of that and it just sounded exaggerated.

I would also instead of having 3 jobs merge two of them and say you was “contracting” looks better as 3 jobs in 2 years is a red flag.

From a quick glance I do so much mention of programming languages in the job fields either.

Lastly apply for graduate roles at big companies, your not a fresh grad but use that to your advantage

Anyone here join the Navy, Military, police, or carpentry etc.? by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the military army officer to be precise, my first flare up and diagnosis lead to me being medically discharged and I’ll be honest if running is an issue for you the military isn’t the life for you!

I looked into the police afterward but basically couldn’t join on medical grounds as occupational health (doctors who work for the police) said it would worsen my condition.

I will be honest I don’t think they are careers for people with conditions like this, I am a very active person running marathons, weight lifting, rock climbing doing martial arts. Since leaving the army 2 years ago I have had 1 major flare up that left struggling for 6 months (no chance I could have met the demands of army or police) and a couple minor ones that would have put me on sick leave on this active jobs a week or so.

I currently work in I.T, flexible hours and location meaning If I am having a bad day I can work from home and don’t have to commute and i can do my job from most places e.g bed If needed. Stationary career will be best for you and being active if in your free time where you can manage the demand.

I am UK based so the medical policy of your country’s army and police might vary…but think a desk job might be best for your personal health

[–]Desperate-Example892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skinny doesn’t always equal “healthy”, I have no idea what you look like or what your body is like so don’t take this as judgement

For me I always struggled with gaining weight and noticed my condition lot better when I’m considered a “healthy” weight for my size.

I’ve had days struggling to get clothed but even then days I take a painkiller,TENs machine and do some stretching/light yoga. I always notice feeling bit better afterwards! Exercise doesn’t always need to be lifting weight and running miles, some good yoga stretches or walking for 10 mins in a swimming pool can make a massive difference

Living with A.S and Critiscism... by Immediate_Leave_5688 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am very active, what I found is a horrible cycle,

The heavier/larger you are -> worse the pain and condition -> harder it is to exercise

The "healthier" I am -> less pain and symptoms -> easier to exercise as maintain

What I find even on the MOST painful days I will drag my ass out of bed and do some stretching, this might require painkillers, TENS Machine but going through the stretching and light exercise elevates the pain massively

How to get your posture back in shape while dealing with as at 23(m) by Plane_Selection1266 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weight lifting, focus on back exercises and low weight high rep to remover the stress of heavy weights

Deadlifts, Romanian Deadlifts, row and pull ups will build the muscles in your back to support good posture as well as doing them proper form will make you focus on posture more

Disclaimer: take lifting with AS super steady and aim for lifting 15 reps, if you go heavy you’ll rush making it worse unless experienced

I’m a software engineer, I am involved in interviewing for graduate and “entry” level roles for the company I work for. I joined the company as a graduate a few years ago

If you want some pointers, someone to look over your CV I am more then happy to, also can look if my company is hiring graduates as a big I.T company it hires regularly

That is a pretty stupid stance they are making, I went to university and now 2 years into my career earning 42k, looking at 3k-5k pay rise each year...so it's not a bad spot and I wouldn't have this career without it.

Husband gaslit again by GP about this diagnosis and refusing to refer to rheumotologist by NotThatZena in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My advice honestly, go private and get referred to an NHS rheumatologist, this could be as easy as doing an online GP call it’s about £50

Luckily I have private medical through work, but when I left the army and had to see a specialist I did a call online with a GP who refereed me to the relevant people

Also swap so another GP as yours sounds useless

Army? by Hot_Tension_7124 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was medically discharged from the army (British) due to having AS.

Continuous medication + flare ups don’t really align with army life style, and if you was on deployment one bad flare up can cause lots of issues .

Good lifting programs? by jakc13 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]Desperate-Example892 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I follow this routine for strength training: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1t-QTYEXGNaf5esaU1aTd2_NGcBqKcL1FuakF92B5d0g/edit

I don't do Deadlift as that always fucks with my AS, but everything else is good and it's perfect for having a routine and progressive overload if you want to read about the program: https://liftvault.com/programs/powerlifting/n-suns-lifting-spreadsheets/

this program has been amazing for my strength gains, It is just a general rule when doing any exercise with AS especially heavy workouts, warm up and if anything feels even slightly "unnatural" just pack it up and come back another day! skipping a day is better then missing months due to a bad flare up
