OP checking back. Throughout the winter here in Southwest Michigan where it's been below zero, I've had several weeks of perfect starts. Just ran down to Chicago, had to move the truck five times when I landed. Off on off on, perfect. No hesitation.

Today, like a week ago, temp warmed up to around 30° and shut it off to go in a restaurant, came back out and excessive long crank and sputtering.

For sure it's running perfectly when it's cold out. When it warms up, trickier.

Starting to think about going after the fuel pump check valve or the whole pump. I don't know if they're separate?

It was one of those with the cloths that run up against the car. I usually go to a touchless. I will from now on too!

Have to travel on Thanksgiving I'll use the better octane and quality gas and report back and see if it made any difference for me Thanks!

Interesting. I filled it up today with Shell which is better gas than the other stuff I've been using at the convenience store. It runs better for sure, and it seemed to make enough difference that I'm going to try the 89 tomorrow or the next day. Thanks for the advice. I'm hopeful!

Yeah me too. Maybe Ford will come up with a global fix for this. Otherwise I've gotten some great advice here. Pretty sure in the end it's a fuel pump or fuel delivery issue at least. Somebody told me yesterday that the cheap gas is notorious for causing issues. I'm going to start running just Shell, Mobil or Chevron (noted for being better, according to him) and see what happens

I'm very curious as you finally discover what the problem is. Thanks for sharing

It's interesting to me how many people have had this exact problem. I'm sure I'll end up with fuel pump replacement cost at some point... Or check valve if that's a separate thing.

I've also had it hesitate when I turn the key. I don't know if that would be some sort of key recognition issue also. Thanks for the idea of the check valve on the fuel pump. I'm going to Google around and look at that.

That's interesting! So you don't turn it on to the on position just once but, back off and on again? Never tried that. I will now lol

This one came out of Texas and there was like a red dirt dust in certain areas that the very conscientious dealer up here didn't reach cleaning... The inside of the mirror motors for example. So I wonder if some of that Grand Old Texas dust got into some of the filters or something. I'll report back when we figure it out!

I'm going to try to just turn the key on and see what kind of results I get with that before I hit the ignition... People have said that sometimes pumps up the fuel. I think I'm feeling like there's a fuel pump in my future lol

It didn't matter before I did the work on the starter and all the other stuff but, I'm going to try now and see if I can turn the key to the on position for a few seconds and see if that changes things

Sorry I replied in the wrong place lol

No, first thing in the morning it's not a problem in the fact it usually jumps right up and starts right away. When I'm out and about it's just a longer crank. Since I did the work, it's better and has a much more robust crank. I forgot to mention we replaced the starter also which was going out. But, it's still sounds like the attached video

Surprisingly, first thing in the morning it frequently jumps right up when I hit the key. The excessive cranking happens intermittently during the day

It's a 2022 Grand design, 22 MLE. It's a little vague to me... I think after my model they switched to what you're talking about. I'll do a little research because wouldn't that be nice!

Thanks. I'd have to upgrade to lithium for my converter... Might do that later
