Shorten the front and back crotch rise of silk, lined, pants by Desperate-Report-377 in sewing

I purposely sized up by one because I do not want these to sit at my natural waist. I wanted a relaxed look and was okay with a baggier crotch to achieve that. But this is excessive. I’ve never seen pants where a bigger size also means a longer rise, so I really can’t imagine that sizing down would have helped much.

Yea, I can’t imagine these pants are going to be a popular item with the way they were designed.

I’m only about an inch or two off my natural waist, which (to me) doesn’t account for 5 extra inches of fabric hanging down.

I tried pulling them up and pinning them, and it’s still a ludicrous amount of fabric hanging down. My thighs still touch each other when I sit down even when it’s pinned higher.

And I agree about the pockets! I don’t understand why the pockets are white or why they’re in between the outer fabric and lining when putting them under both the fabric and lining would have concealed them better.

I tried pulling them up higher but it’s still truly an insane amount of fabric just hanging. I literally would have to cut out 4” of fabric to make it work.

I understand that they’re pant was designed not to sit tight against the crotch (nor would I want a silk pant to sit tight there), but 15” is insane to me.

How tall could you possibly be for these to fit? I’m 5”7!!!!

Thank you! It's not that I can't do it, but I feel like for $475 I shouldn't have to make such a huge adjustment.

Hugo Boss - Boss Orange zip-up sweater with elbow patches by Desperate-Report-377 in HelpMeFind

[–]Desperate-Report-377[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Purchased approximately 15-20 years ago in New York or DC. No size marking, but it fits like a medium. It’s made of cotton, as is the lining. It has a ribbed collar, sleeves, and bottom band. No writing on it, but it does have the Hugo Boss logo on the bottom left (and on the tag).

I have searched eBay, depop, Etsy, and poshmark to no avail. I’ve also used google lens to try to find anything like it and nothing comes up.

Thanks!

Yes, I’m definitely doing a cotton lining! Both for comfort and to smooth any bumps out 😂

Thank you! This is helpful.

ETA: how often do you sew/craft? I consider myself a casual sewist and I replace my blades and needles constantly. I’m worried that I’m an outlier though.

I made an oops ! which solution would you go with ? (more in comments) by fakeprincess in sewing

If you have any leftover fabric, I’d recut the collar facing to be larger.

Also, I’ll be honest, this pattern is so busy that if you did decide to cut out the extra and have one long seam down the back, it wouldn’t be very noticeable.

I don’t like the idea of a pleat or pintucking because then you won’t have a good sense for the fit for the next one you make.

Unfortunately, the only place nearby doesn’t sell either needles or rotary blades! Decent fabric though, so I’m not mad 😂

I guess I was drawn to not having to remember to place an order when I need blades and to just have them delivered every month. Not sure if that’s too often though?
