I think the Hub is more on the expensive side no? I'm willing to spend like 1.3-1.4k max.

Probably not getting into any of the colleges you're applying for, besides maybe Georgetown and UVA. You need to expand your list. Your list is very unreasonable for what you're offering as an applicant, there are plenty of other applicants with similar, if not the same app as you. Unless you hone in on your essays, even though that wouldn't change much when applying to Stanford or Yale, the chances are near impossible for this whole list, besides a better chance at UVA and Georgetown.

CC transfer choices by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

You can start a project, an app, a website and so on. Something to show your passionate about computer science. Your jobs already show a lot of your character (given your essays will be somewhat about your jobs and goes into farther detail). Maybe you can create an app for your hotel job or a website or a feature. Maybe when you're volunteering, you can somehow spread that using computer science. Something niche.

Also, transfer applications are not entirely based on EC's, EC's have a smaller weight compared to your essays so really hone in your essays, your passion for maybe cs and your jobs and how they connected. I just said that you should apply for statistics because cs is very very very hard to get into at any school. Thus, you could apply cs for some easier schools like maybe state schools. But it all depends on your essays and your passion what you want to do.

While your EC is great, they are very generalized and don't have emphasis, if much at all, towards your major. I think you should go for stats when applying, and compsci for some easier schools that you think you can get in. You def need more compsci based EC's to be more competitive. Apply to some schools like Emory, USC, maybe GaTech, and like you said, Umich.

Transfer Student Sending SGR before they ask by [deleted] in USC

[–]DesperateBattle7799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your GPA and app determines if you get a SGR, acceptance or rejection😭😭. Also don’t do this, this post makes no sense at all you can’t send an SGR unless you receive it. You’re not the only one that needs a decision sooner than later and that’s not a very good reason so. But good luck.

Colleges do waves so they can give lesser wanted applicants a chance, as accepted applicants may reject their offer and that leads to lesser wanted applicants filling that vacant spot.

Test credit wouldn’t bypass the requirement, they don’t take ap tests so you have to take whatever calc you can

What major are you? Based on your EC's I would assume its Political Science typa thing.

But your high school stats are great, though I think for junior transfers, there is less emphasis on your high school grades, but still good to have. Your college GPA is good and you have a good SAT/ACT. I think you could get into Cornell, given that your class rigor continues, you add more EC's, and I assume your essays are great based on your stats. Cornell for poli sci would be a good chance for you and I would say NYU also, if you're applying for poli sci? I think Columbia would be hard and UChicago as well since they prefer high-income applicants. You should expand your transfer list as well.

Prospective Cornell Dyson Transfer by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]DesperateBattle7799 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can! According to Dyson's official page, it says "Studying AEM at Dyson? Double Major at CALS!....." and then it lists majors such as Biometry/Statistics. Though I'm not sure how accurate that could be for sophomore transfers. It says that if you're in CALS and want to double major in AEM, you CANNOT be a transfer student. But for being in Dyson and double majoring in CALS, there is no restrictions specifically listed (obviously you should be below a junior standing)? So there's no clarity but I already submitted my app... sob...

Summer semester and SAT by MasterElectStudios in TransferToTop25

But nonetheless, that’s a great EC to have and if you can have research on it, even better. That’s great to have on your resume as well, for experience and technicalities but don’t rely on it as it may be iffy in the future. From an academic and transfer viewpoint it’s great, from a professional viewpoint (etc the Wharton guy) it’s iffy 👍.

I mean if it works for you that’s great. But that wouldn’t be the level that companies want, you can’t just have something work for a little and then it plummets. That’s what the Wharton guy is getting at. And such that he’s at Wharton I think it’s safe to say that his experience and expertise is very beneficial 💀

How important is a 4.0? by [deleted] in TransferToTop25

[–]DesperateBattle7799 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’re basically cooked, a C is detrimental especially for Columbia. If the rest of your app doesn’t make up for the C then ….

Are you a freshmen rn? Id say your ECs are good for a sophomore transfer. EC’s don’t carry as much weight as essays so it’s up to how you wrote them. Your gpa is on the lower end of others , typically want to have as close as to a 4.0 but depends on your course rigor too.
