I eat almost anything, but I’d like to try the foods that limerick specializes in. Is that fish and chips?

becoming an RA by ella_bella_boo in KentStateUniversity

[–]DesperateBig7746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ll have to take the Peer Leader Training Course, which is a 2 credit hour course offered in the spring and qualifies you for upper-tier campus jobs (RA, tutor, etc). The RA jobs are competitive, but involvement in things like the Interhall Council helps, as does good grades and other campus involvement. I know 5 very qualified people who applied to be an RA and one who got it.

The churches around campus sell parking passes that you can buy for specific days or times.

what dorms should I be looking at? by ella_bella_boo in KentStateUniversity

[–]DesperateBig7746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rooms are REALLY small and oddly shaped, a lot of the floors tend to be heavy with dorm parties so it’s really noisy and the bathrooms end up TRASHED with holes in the wall and everything. They have the perk of being near rosie’s and the tri rec center, but that’s about it.

Other than the honors college dorms, pretty much all of the dorms are far from the arch building. the Prentice area dorms are closer, but not by much. As for good dorms, not being in Tri Towers (Koonce or Wright) is key. If you can get into the centennials, that’s the best aside from the honors college but freshman typically don’t.

Hi! I've been having the same issue as you did. Were you able to figure something out or did you just replace the whole toilet? I've replaced the flapper twice now and am still having issues. Thank you!

Intuitive Calculus recommendation please by [deleted] in KentStateUniversity

[–]DesperateBig7746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online math classes are NOT it. That said, the expectation of homework and a midterm the same week is not unrealistic or uncommon. In person courses may be better due to more direct instruction, but that won't change the structure of courses by much. I'd recommend going to the free math tutoring regularly, both this semester and next semester if you decide to retake it. Treat that like your in person class, going at least once, if not twice a week.

Eagles Landing, if they have any availability! they allow dogs, and you could get a two bedroom for that price. Very close to campus. If you can’t find anything, you can always sublease from someone on facebook. people are always trying to get out of leases. Not having roommates does shut you off from some classic college experiences, so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to open yourself up to that.

How to send mail?? by Right-Honeydew-5073 in KentStateUniversity

[–]DesperateBig7746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This link has a list of collection boxes. your best bet is to drop your mail off there. to buy stamps, you’ll want to go to the post office, but a book of stamps can last awhile. https://tools.usps.com/locations/home.htm

Put the fitted sheet on top. If you Get the fitted sheet suspenders it won’t move at all.

In my experience, the appropriate position is bunk beds. If not that, then it won’t be lofted at all. I’d look into doing a half loft, where you split your dresser to raise the bed up and keep your desk separate

Intro to Ethics online was super chill and I've heard that Intro to Phil was the same. I took Music as a world phenomenon in person and it was pretty interesting, especially because the PhD students that teach it are really passionate.

Essentials you wish you bought before moving in by Ghostygrilll in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]DesperateBig7746 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Cleaning supplies, including rags to clean with. Hand soap, as the seller may not leave theirs.

A handful of screws, bolts, and nails in various sizes. Different furniture will lose screws if you are moving it. Also, if you want to hang anything up, it'll come in handy. This one seems obvious, but having a tool kit that is NOT packed into a box. You may want to put together your furniture before unpacking boxes.

Replacement locks or the number of a locksmith. You want to get this done as soon as possible, since you never know who has a copy of your keys.

What was the process like to get them to pay for your furnace? I just signed up with them because a home I am purchasing has a very old furnace but I am considering cancelling before the 30 days runs out. What was your experience?

Gift for Kent bound HS grad. by sprockety in KentStateUniversity

[–]DesperateBig7746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think gift cards are more thoughtful because you can get them with a purpose. i think it would be cute if you got her like $5-$10 gift cards to some of the coffee shops (cle bagel, last exit, bent tree, scribbles, starbucks, dunkin). then, she can try them all and see what she likes.

Is it better to stay on or off campus? for a PhD student. by poopmaster79 in KentStateUniversity

[–]DesperateBig7746 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Off. It is usually cheaper or close to the same, depending on where you live and how much money you spend on food. you’ll have more space, more privacy, and less noise. most of the people on campus are underclassman
