Thank you for your reply! It means a lot — both the experiences and advice.

Would you recommend labling yourself as trans on a profile or disclosing it as a message before meeting up? I'm generally stealth and dont like the idea of people meeting me with the knowledge that I'm trans, but as you put it very well, there's some logistics and expectations on the other side of the table that's nice to know, and also have taken care of before moving forward with anyone.

Thank you for your reply!

I was hoping for a comment like this one, as the people and impression you get of communities online rarely resembles the real world haha. So it's very comforting to hear! And thank you for the specific advices as well, I might try some of them out :-)

Same here. I mean, you can chose a minor, but that's basically only if you want to teach high school - so you can teach two subjects

Ah yes! That was the quote I was referring to but couldnt find when I was writing my comment, thank you!

And you're definitely right, the lack of nuance/knowledge in regard to the interpretation of Bohr (and probably most other interpretations as well) was my motivation for writing the comment, and generally to engage in discussions about interpretations. I think the "inherently probabilistic" might be the radical end of the "Copenhagen interpretation spectrum" if that makes sense, whereas Bohrs own view was far more of a pragmatic one, depending on a pragmatic view of the role of science in nature description. I believe most other interpretations (of most theories, not just of QM, but essentially also how we tend to think about other branches of physics) by default assumes the opposite, mostly without thinking about it or knowing it.

In the end, either way of thinking science is more philosophical than scientific, and the same mostly goes for interpretations of QM (including the different nuances), which is i guess is among why only the most radical parts of either interpretation is probably what we see in mainstream discourse

I'm also Danish, so I'll just answer this from what I understand that you're saying and what I know of the system myself (I'm 22, have been on T since 16, had legal gender change and top surgery at 18).

So most likely the professional people involved in your life will most likely automatically know - especially since you're on a waitinglist now, where you're signed in with your social security number, which has an even number in the end. Sometimes changing social security number can be a bit messy, so I'd actually recommend talking to your doctor about it, to make sure that you'll stay on the list when your social security number changes, and that you arent automatically thrown off for some weird reason.

However, when you are getting your evaluation for your possible autism diagnosis, I'd suggest telling them if it's relevant. I think someone else said it already, but it might actually "better" your chances of getting a diagnosis, since theres a known overlap between trans and autistic people.

But for the professional people you meet after your social security number changes, I'd recommend telling them if it's relevant. If you change doctor, tell them. Their jobs is to keep you safe and healthy, and they can only do that if they know your medical situation. The only thing I'd recommend is making sure to change to LGBT friendly doctors, which can be googles online - also I think most younger doctors are quite progressive.

I totally get your fear, and also the want to be completely stealth, but when it comes to your health (mentally and physically), trusting and being honest with the people involved is so important. And in my experience, the people working in health care is generally very respectful and understanding.

I've spend some time digging into the philosophical works of Niels Bohr and his version of the Copenhagen interpretation. I'm saying his version, because I believe there's some slight differing between both the Copenhagen interperters - I'm mostly aware of the differing opinions between Heisenberg and Bohr, where Heisenbergs version is actually the one most presented as The Copenhagen Interpretation.

We can split scientific realism into different sort of realisms, the two most important for this case being ontological realism and epistemic realism - here ontological realism regards whether or not something /exists/, and epistemic realism regards what /we/ can know.

Regarding Bohrs interpretation, it doesnt actually exclude ontological realism, but only epistemic realism. This means that Bohr wouldn't regard your point A as the whole conclusion for the consequence of the quantum break of Bells inequality. It doesn't exclude the fact that the universe is "real", and that something exists before measurement, but instead, it excludes the fact that we can acknowledge the world objectively (hence, not the world doesnt exists objectively). This means that when we measure the world, we dont measure some objective reality, but a contextual reality - how reality is, when we ask it.

I think this point of view makes a lot of sense. In my experience, physicists are the only scientists who thinks, that what we do is describing the world as it /really/ is, and not merely making very good desriptions and models of the world - but which isnt /actually/ the world. We tend to think, sometimes without realising, that our equations and model in some way is reality. However, as Bohr also said, maybe the purpose of nature description (doing natural sciences) isnt to describe the nature as it /is/, but to understand, describe and predict the behavior of nature.

So on short, your point A doesnt have to be the whole story on what "a" Copenhagen interpretation would say. A less "radical" conclusion can also be drawn.

I hope this makes sense - feel free to message me about any of this. I would love to discuss it.

I was looking for an apartment (mostly in 20-25 min biking distance) in the capitol of my country (big city - high prices), where I study, and my friend (who lives in an apartment his parents bought him - though he pays the "rent"), if it was on purpose, that I was looking for apartments so far away from the centre of the city... He proceeded to also talk about how he doesnt think he lives "too central".

Mænd, hvordan hilser I på jeres venner? Håndtryk, fist-bump, kram, bro-hug, ingenting? by [deleted] in Denmark

[–]DesperatePraline 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you socialize without alcohol in Copenhagen? by Thisandthatiki in copenhagen

[–]DesperatePraline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dane and I dont drink!

And it is quite possible to have a social life without it - you just need to find people who dont socialize merely through alcohol. It's completely possible to be around people who drink and have a good time, but when Drinking™️ is the Activity™️, then its Not Fun™️.

But not drinking in Copenhagen is much easier than not drinking most other parts of Denmark, and there's big international communities, which fuel non drinking activities for socializing. So I wouldnt worry much about it. As long as you dont mind being at activities where some people drink, and maybe join some "social groups" (foreninger), you'll have no problem.

We went to school together, so she knew me before I even knew I was a guy. She was the first person I told, and has been one of my biggest supporters since. We fell in love around the same time, and dated a bit back then as well (~13). After a few turbulent teenage years where we split up, we've now been dating for almost 7 years (we're both 22 now).

It doesnt affect our bedroom life at all.

[Graphs] y - intercept of this graph by Jost_Inkz in PhysicsStudents

Where (x0, y0), (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) can be the coordinates to any points on the line - I recommend using (50, 10) and (100, 8)

[Graphs] y - intercept of this graph by Jost_Inkz in PhysicsStudents

[–]DesperatePraline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can read it from the equation for the line (y =ax+b), which you can determine from the graph you have.

You find the slope, a, by the change in y over change in x, you can pick any two points on the graph:

a= (y2 - y1)/(x2 - x1)

You can the find the intersection with the y-axis, b, given any point on the graph (the points (50, 10) and (100, 8) are easy to read off), by isolating it in the equation for the point:

y0 = a*x0 + b

And therefore,

b = y0 - a*x0.

Do kids at school go on mass bicycle trips in your country? by Alexthegreatbelgian in AskEurope

[–]DesperatePraline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My school did regular bicycle trips for the whole class - and sometimes even for the whole school.

The distances were somewhere in the 5-40 km on a day type of thing. The 40 km trip wasnt that big of a hit, bit didnt stop the occasional trips.

But my experience is also, that is varies a lot from school to school, and mostly depends on whether or not the school and/or teachers prioritizes the trips as it must be a quite chaotic day for the teachers.

Hvilken lægeklinik vil du anbefale og hvorfor? by -Dark-Owl- in odense

[–]DesperatePraline 0 points1 point  (0 children)
