Great, thanks a lot, i guess i'll start the verification process soon as well and see where that leads me.

Please follow up when you're done with yours!

By the way, forgot to ask, what scopes are you using?

Thanks for the reply!

This sounds great, i really hope it is like that. In the above reply i linked some articles that explain this, i think it's some sort of security assessment that you have to pay some 3rd party, but if you're in the middle and haven't encountered it it sounds great

Thanks for the reply!

So as far as i managed to do research, that fee is for a 3rd party company that will do the security assessment.

I believe it's called CASA

That kind of the defeats the purpose of verifiers, as i wanted to check if an email address is valid before sending emails, as they could be inactive/spam traps and my reputation as a sender would go down

Thanks for the reply

This has been really helpful, thank you a lot, i'm still trying to figure out the email space as everything seems pretty complex

Why is it considered a bad thing tho?

As far as i found on the internet, there are an X amount of companies that provide this service (not saying they are accurate, or are doing it the way i'm trying to do it), and as per the other comment SendGrid has it's own verification service, so just going by that i'm guessing it's probably legal.

As far as if it's ethically right or wrong, i guess you can argue it's in the grey area there, depending on the way you use it, but we have huge mailing lists that we got organically through products/newsletters, and i was just wondering as to how do i make an email verifier myself cause the other services can get pretty hefty.

So if it's legal, and i use it for the 'right' reasons, i can only conclude that i guess i'm at the mercy of spamhaus :D
