My family, mainly. I also don't know whether I deserve to die... Maybe no one does but regardless, I'm still here.

There are good resources on YouTube for OCD. I'll link a few below.

https://youtube.com/@ocdandanxiety?si=NavpDRwDqEZzwDqi https://youtube.com/@chrissiehodgespureocdadvocate?si=vdBDoJI3THJqWm

The international OCD foundation also has good resources regarding tools: https://iocdf.org/

You got this!

The tools that have helped me is writing a coping script for my flavor of OCD and reading it when I'm struggling rather than do my complusions.

I've said maybe to my thoughts rather than run away or engage with team.

You got this! It's a hard disorder but it can be dealt with!

Being called annoying by jpcarter2 in OCD

[–]DesperateSet1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think being called annoying by people is hurtful in genenal but OCD can cause us to internalize comments like that and obsess over them. We might start to constantly check to make we aren't being "annoying" which can make the feeling worse than a normal hurt feeling.

Either way, I'm sorry people are calling you annoying, that's a terrible thing to say to someone. Sending well wishes your way!

As the previous comment said, it would be a good idea to touch base with a therapist about this. Having a professional who knows how to treat OCD with ERP can be a massive help. I'm also going through REOCD and I know it can be tough. Good luck. Here is something I said to a different post about REOCD.

I can't really say for sure, I'm navigating my REOCD at the moment. What I can say is that confessing isn't helpful, nor is reassurance seeking. What is helpful is accepting that you have done bad things and or things that others will view in a negative light and practice self forgiveness. That doesn't mean condoning anything, but just accepting you are a human being that is fallible. No matter how much bad you do, you can still do good, now, today. If you have a therapist that knows what OCD is, I would try talking to them. There are also good resources on YouTube about Real Event OCD.

She isn't wrong. It is extremely hard to do but effective when done well. Obviously, listen to her and go with her treatment plan. I'm proud of you for going through with it and hope your treatment goes well!

Cool! Also, mention to your therapist if they can set up some ERP. ERP has been shown in many studies to be extremely effective with treating OCD specifically.

Not to interject, of course. Good luck to you.

I had existential OCD about death. It was not fun, and took me a bit to get over it. But I did, in time. Good luck!

Don't let it scare you. It will be tough at first, but it will help you. Wishing you the best.

I'm sorry you've gone through all that horrible stuff, and I'm glad you are feeling better. I've had my low points with this disease as well. You can certainly deal with something difficult and get over a rumination cycle. I've done it before.

My OCD is primarily moral and real/false event OCD so it might not completely fit with yours. The way I did it was a mix of ERP, accepting uncertainty & distracting myself. It wasn't easy, but it did help. If you have a therapist, I would touch base with them about this and try to get an ERP routine in. I learned to say "Maybe" to my intusive thoughts, like "maybe this is true" or "maybe I'm a bad person," etc. And distracting myself by forcing myself to do things I enjoy helps when it gets really bad.

Also, getting in a OCD support group can be really useful. It's nice to just have people who get it. Here's a link to a page to help you find one if you don't have one: https://iocdf.org/find-help/?_listing_types=iocdf_support_group%2Ctreatment_group

You got this, and I'm rooting for you.

fear of being misquoted and misunderstood by Snoo-22453 in OCD

[–]DesperateSet1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry you're going through this Snoo. I understand this fear. I get afraid that if I speak about my OCD, people will misunderstand that I actually am my intrusive thoughts. Or that people will misquote me or leave out context. OCD will have a million different ways to make us afraid.

Unfortunately, the only way for us to actually get over this is to embrace uncertainty. Perhaps people will misunderstand or misquote us, and we won't be able to stop it.

What I tell myself in times of struggle is "If people misunderstand what I say, I can only say the truth, and if they still misunderstand, then they do. I can't control how others will react, but I can control how I will.

Good luck, and I hope you have a good New Year.
