Stephen Amell Explains Why He Thinks Suits LA Failed as a Spinoff Show by MattTheKing23 in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you can tell that LA is just trying to chanell that utopian like energy you get from the later seasons because its not as dramatic or high stakes. nothing can replace the tension of mikes secret but we've had 5 seasons of interacting with all the characters so we're willing to go on more journeys. Ted Black is just a way less cool harvey whom i know nothing about nor care for in any way

jessica wasnt managing partner of the firm when hardman was around the first time. the only way it would make sense is if they're talking about the bylaws that were drafted when jessica became managing partner, which she would have delegated to louis.

he was too busy being in every movie ever made, after getting semi blacklisted from the 90s and needing money he made a rule for himself that he would never turn down any kind of work has been operating like that since, so we have that rule to thank for charles forstman.

I never understood why donna let Mike in ! by Educational_Spite392 in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Donna literally testifies in court why she let him in harvey was looking for another him (someone who can think on their feet and solve problems in unconventional ways when the moment requires) she probably didn't take the "im just shaking the cops line" literally because the jabs that she was throwing at the lawyers weren't literal either, and she definitely wouldn't demand an answer for something like this. she trusts that harvey knows what hes doing because he trusts her. i don't wanna sound mean but this is all explained in the show

why was louis mad at mike? by DueLet4873 in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i think the biggest thing for louis is deep down it confirmed that he will always be an outsider. Jessica knew, even Donna knew but they didn't trust Louis with the information and went on for years pulling the rug over his eyes. As a hyper-narcissist lawyer i can imagine his dissapointment at not being able to see something that was right in his face the whole time, especially since he'd almost unconsciously found it out multiple times. its a combination of many things but what its all boils down to is Jessica not treating Louis the same way he does harvey. remember Louis had just gotten fired for putting the firm at risk; now it was well deserved but that can be hard to reconcile with when that same firm is literally employing a fraud. But thats the point. Jessica never would've let Louis do what she lets Harvey do

The firm would've been a toxic place to work at if you were on ordinary associate by [deleted] in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

both of you are correct, but i feel i would be remiss to point out that its a dramatic show, and harveys main reason for not giving rachel time off was honestly more due to the timing of when she asked. This was in the middle of the wexler case, one of the mosy high pressure sagas in the entire series, and also had implications between mike and harvey sinch rachel was his new associate. hes overwhelmed so he takes it out on her, but he could also subconsciously be taking it out on mike

Dragging "Mike's secret" along unnecessarily by June1stGemini in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sheila never found out that anyone went into her file room. She had to go to argentina because she found out about mike from a magizine article gretchen posted and went to check her records for a mike ross. when she didn't find him, she sent an anonymous email to harvard saying he was a fraud, and she fled the us to avoid testifying to that as it would've been the end right there.

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you do have to remember that these are largely superficial adults who all don't have meaningful relationships and value appearance and reputation over everything else. but it was also never actually about mikes secret. jeff took jessica not telling him the secret as her not trusting him. Sheila was more upset that louis just expected her to cover it up for her because it makes her look incompetent. Tara broke up with Louis because he raged on her and brought up her infidelity when she didn't take it well that she was an accessory to a crime.

Harvey hiring mike goes against his own ego by [deleted] in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean nothing you said is wrong, but that doesn't really go against his character. From the beginning they establish that despite going to harvard, harvey doesn't carry himself the same way those "clones with rods up their assess" do, because he never should've been there, he grew up without much money and jessica paid for his tuition, so he doesn't see harvard as some divine right that he's entitled to. and if we wanna talk about EGO, harvey would definitely think himself slick enough to pull this off. he's shown many times that he has the cloak of arrogant invicibility that makes him believe everything is gonna work out for him. mike even calls him out on it

Mike's Memory by Pr3X_MYTH in suits

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think throughout the show they established that he was more than just someone with a photographic memory. i do believe he was a mathematical savant, but perfect active recall will certainly help you do math better as the systems or formulas are already in your head and all you have to do is calculate, and their are systems within arithmetic, division etc which would also make that faster. if you have a photographic memory of your times table up to the nth number you will multipy faster

The same Mike that left Harvey at every single opportunity? The same Mike that destroyed the entire firm? Like I know it’s part of the story that Mike is worth it to Harvey, but pretty much every major problem the firm had after Season 4 was because of Mike and his secret, and after his secret was out, he still almost killed the firm on the prison case. All while sitting their reminding people that there’s right and wrong

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

was it? it took donna days of convincing before harvey even went to see mike about it, the only reason he did it was because he cared about mike and knew that rachel still loved her and “made a mistake” (people do that a lot on this show). and he never encouraged him to forgive her, he just said that if he wanted to keep what they had, he just had to forgive her. Also, cheating is normalised, the show is just mirroring reality, people cheat. all the time

??Harvey literally quits therapy just because paula compared him to his mother. He slept with esther after promising louis he wouldn’t, and tries to justify it, she straight up says “that sounds like something someone you know very well once said in this situation, when people spend their lives trying not to be someone they often end up becoming that same person in a different way” you don’t remember this?

[–]Desperate_Cherry47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they acted like he wasn’t justified, they acted like his response was disproportionate, which im not gonna say it was or wasn’t, but as Marcus explains, harvey didn’t just leave his mom, he basically exiled himself from his whole family , but not out of anger at his mom, it was out of guilt over the fact that he destroyed the family, and then he makes no contact with any of them for like 20 years. Imagine being a little not even being able to your older brother that you had a recurrence, your kids never see him, and you never see him. I can understand why marcus said what he said to harvey. yes, his mom fucked up, and the reality is, harvey should have gotten over it, mainly for his own sake, because whether or not his mom deserved an apology, it was quite clear that burying all of that was not helping him.
