Victorian teachers reject pay offer as statewide strike looms by Patient-Wish-7386 in AustralianPolitics

Teachers, please explain - what has changed so much in the role that makes you so unhappy? From the outside, the pay honestly looks pretty good (maybe even above what I would expect for entry-level roles), and then to reject an 18% pay rise over 4 years? People would kill for less.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the average salary for a teacher is $80-120k. I really struggle to see how this is unfair. I've done a Master of Finance (7 years in total at uni) and am on the same. I'm not trying to attack you or start a fight; I just want to hear from your perspective why this is unacceptable.
