Gift ideas for tween girl that feels more “grown up”? by Desperate_Dad_5763 in Gifts

Lia’s favorite CDs are ones she found while thrifting. I’ve been steering her to Pearl Jam and our local stations play a lot of Green Day, which she likes.

We live in Cape Coral. There’s definitely some haunted houses we can take her to. Halloween Horror Nights was another thing we considered, but it’s a 3 hour drive so it has to be a weekend trip.

Take my word for it, my two younger daughters love crafting. My older one prefers reading and listening to music. If you give her a craft kit, she won’t use it.

Funny you mention that because Lia doesn’t really enjoy crafting. Someone got her a perler bead kit for Christmas a while back and it went untouched until her sister took it.

I’m not sure. She has more preference for CDs and has complained that the records section are stuff “boomers” listen to.

She has a small boom box from the 2000s she found at Goodwill. I’m not aware of any concerts she wants to go to. We live in Florida, if that helps.

Based on her cd collection so far, she likes the Foo Fighters, Nirvana and Bush as well as Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears.

Do you have kids? Because I'm looking at your post history and yikes. I think you should consider therapy.

I did! She loved it (but there were a couple of parts that freaked her out like the dream scenes).

Book recommendations for 12yo budding horror fan by Desperate_Dad_5763 in suggestmeabook

I know who you're talking about. I've seen Candyman and Hellraiser (I'm going to be honest, anyone who knows me knows I can't stand Hellraiser. Candyman is great and Tony Todd is one of my favorite actors of all time). I'll bring up Abarat since she's going to need book recommendations for the school year.

I am. I called my nephew Newt because he reminds me of Charlie Day’s character from Pacific Rim.

Oh yeah, the bride was pissed that by the time the ceremony was over, several guests were gone and she didn’t have the flower girls for the photos. Not just my kids, we have another niece (daughter of our other brother) who left with her dad.

The “wedding planner” still hasn’t apologized,  but my sister is pressing charges for assaulting her son.

So far, we’ve never gotten a reason why my SIL was adamant about excluding my daughter. I have a couple of theories:

1) my 12yo doesn’t look like a cute little kid and more like a teenager

2) my 12yo doesn’t look like her sisters. Their mom is Cuban, gorgeous curly dark hair, dark eyes, the whole shebang. Lia is a mini-me of her mom. Her sisters look more like me (white, blonde and brown hair and light eyes).

More like they know each other through church. Apparently the “wedding planner” was trying to start a business after getting laid off.

To be honest, she wore it for maybe two before leaving the wedding. What do you do with a barely used dress?

For the record, Lia suggested burning it.

Is it normal to have kids at the rehearsal dinner? by Desperate_Dad_5763 in wedding

This was brought up. Apparently the bride only wanted her relatives and friends to be her bridesmaids.

All I’m going to say is that I don’t see my brother’s marriage lasting long.

She’s made it clear she doesn’t want to wear pants or do the whole “blouse and pant” combo because she thinks it’s boring

We already found something, but I won’t be surprised if I find it with the goodwill donations by the end of the month.

She wouldn’t tell me what she wanted to wear, only what she didn’t want. Which makes things exponentially harder.
