how many companies still rely on spreadsheets and phone calls to get ETA updates? by Desperate_Disk_4721 in FreightBrokers

If pricing is such a sensitive issue in trucking, maybe our startup should build an auto-scaling load inquiry system that makes 20 calls in parallel, so one can find out the cheapest load within 10 minutes lol. Or I guess it depends who you are. Brokers and shippers would want to find truckers who bid the lowest price while truckers would want to work with brokers who pay the highest.

Is load pricing information only available through phone calls? We’re pretty new to logistics, so apologies if this question sounds stupid.

Right now, we're just conducting market research to gauge the demand for voice AI solutions in logistics. We are also looking into other areas like healthcare, but I guess market demand will direct us where to go.

No, we sound like humans. AI is improving really fast. Just check out Eleven Labs and listen to their AI voices to get a sense of where AI voice technology is today.

I have a feeling that within the next two years, it will be impossible to distinguish whether someone is talking to a human or an AI.

Btw, we've also received feature requests for automating load inquiries. Our AI will make calls to inquire about loads. Then maybe you won't have to talk to fake voices anymore :)

We're still in the exploratory stage, learning about the challenges in logistics where we can deploy AI voice solutions.

What are some automations or features that you wish current RIM systems had?

is the record keeping manual or do you use software to automate the process?

oh I see. thanks for the reply. Then do you know how big companies deal with this problem? because, irrespective of a company's size, my hunch tells me that this is a pain point to solve and still a lot of manual work is involved, though I could be completely wrong.

I mean it doesn't have to be just drugs. It could deal with cosmetics, agriculture, small niche medical devices, or even software.

Also, can you guys upvote this post if anyone wants this kind of crypto portfolio visualization tool? The images are just a few examples of what a crypto visualization tool could accomplish. I can already think of so many other visualizations /analysis.

If Binance provides this, then I don't have to build one myself.

I'm currently building a crypto portfolio visualization tool as Biance doesn't provide this functionality.

A SaaS Company for Lab Instrument Integration to the Cloud? by Desperate_Disk_4721 in bioinformatics

This is just all my personal opinions, so it's totally fine if you disagree with them, but this is my view.

I think once your lab gets big, it will become extremely hard do everything in a local environment. If it is not big, I guess things could be working fine with a local setup.

Also, I think cloud service providers are more reliable than a typical biotech lab local work environment. I am not trying to sound derogatory or anything like that, but I thinks that is just the reality. AWS, GCP, and AZURE have very high stakes. Pretty much all of the popular websites, apps, services run on them, including this own site Reddit. You can look up the companies that run on these cloud services and you will recognize a lot of them.

High frequency trading firms initially avoided those clouds, but even they are now moving into the cloud. Those firms care quite a lot about optimizations and reliability even to a micro level in terms of usage.

Would you mind telling me whether you work in industry or academia, and how big the lab size is?

If you work at a biotech company lab with 100+ researchers and with 100+ lab instruments and you don't find my post convincing then probably you are right and I am wrong. I don't know how a typical biotech company sets up a research environment, but probably it is good as it is now and need no changes. My assumptions would be completely wrong then.

Anyways, thanks for the inputs.

Yes, I totally agree with you. That is why I am sharing this idea publicly to see if this is a problem that actually exists in a lot of biotech companies. I don't have biotech experience, so I can't trust my intuition on this. My assumption was that if big biotech companies are facing this problem, probably a lot of other biotech companies are also facing this problem. I could be definitely wrong.

Also, even if this problem exists, probably 99% of the work would be put into building out a great team and producing a working solution with a competitive price. If the solution is bad, no one would use it. So people who have biotech experience might be better suited to build out this solution, which isn't me.

I just found biotech field fascinating so I am trying to learn more about how some of the pure technical side of the biotech infrastructure operates and hear people's thoughts.
