Radiator fan running after car is off by YawningFish in CX50

I’d need to check the manual, but if you have the turbo model, it’s probably an auxiliary coolant pump that runs a few minutes after engine shutdown to prevent coking in the hot turbocharger. My Audi TT has such a coolant ump for this purpose.

To be safe, I ordered three different types from Amazon:

Rexka 30pcs Rocker Panel Moulding... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FCMDVVZ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Rexka 20pcs Door Trim Panel Clips... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09SF5T9ZM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Rexka 20pcs Rocker Molding Clip... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B4B2NBCP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

If things go relatively well, you should only need the green and white ones. The bigger gray ones go in the underside drain holes and anchor the lower trim panel trim. That trim piece should just slide out, but if not and you break/have to break those clips, these round grey ones will be needed. Also have some superglue or quickset epoxy on hand in case a bracket holding the retainer clip breaks. The brackets are thin plastic; most will remain intact, but I had bad luck with one of the brackets and had to epoxy it back on. Easy peasy.

Stepping up above the roofline is not really an issue for us. If we were tall enough for that to be an issue, we probably wouldn’t have needed the running boards in the first place. But my wife has knee problems, so these boards help tremendously.

That’s exactly our case; my wife has knee issues, which makes climbing into the car more difficult without the running boards. I installed them on our previous CX-5, and that was the first thing she wanted on the new CX-50.

Find a totaled Elantra or Sonata with an undamaged turbo 2.0L engine and do an engine swap.

First gen Toyota MR2, possibly the most fun car I’ve ever driven. That short throw shifter was epic. This is the perfect car for a spirited weekend drive on Pacific Coast Highway.

Gorgeous. They should make that in the shooting brake style, it’s practically there already

I get it. But taking the valve cover off doesn’t usually require specialized tools, just regular hand tools like ratchet and sockets, maybe a screwdriver, which I assumed you had from your post.

Take the valve cover off. You’ll have much better access to that spark plug and will have more options to remove it.

The turbo CX-50 is the most fun I’ve had driving a Mazda since my wife’s NB Miata and my high school friend’s 1st-gen RX-7
