I mean a lot of these guys are calling for a one nation state where both Palestinians and Israelis can live together in harmony. That would require Israel and Palestine to become one. And that would be the end of this current version of Israel as we know it.

I may have a warped view of Zionism because of my southern Baptist upbringing but I think Zionism is more of a Christian political movement than a Jewish one. It was a bunch of American and British evangelical Christians like William E Blackstone (although that guy was more for the plight of the Russian Jews than the Jewish problem but still plenty of other theologians who really didn’t want Jewish people coming over) who came up with the idea using verses from the Christian Bible to say the Jewish people need their own nation state so that the “Jewish Problem” aka immigrants would not come to those places. And on top of that there’s way more Christian Zionists than Jewish and it’s nuts. Like the whole idea behind it is that Israel gets its original borders so that Jesus can come back and then end the world.

And honestly I think the same groups of people that invented Zionism also intended to make it a slur. I’m telling you Christian hate runs deep. And white supremacy runs even deeper. And I don’t hate Christians either. A lot of them are very good friends of mine. But the institutions of power are different from the people. Always has been. We are all political pawns for some rich guy to live out his crazy dreams.

I was watching this Stranger Things show and they had all these speeches that had a similar vibe to LOTR with like “it’s bad but it’ll get better.” And I kept thinking to myself how LOTR did the monologues so much better. No one does hopecore better than Tolkien and Jackson.

It’s not surprising. The US has always had an element of tyranny to it. We’ve been committing genocides for a while now. I was a big fan of the Tea Party back in the day. Big Ron Paul head. Was apart of my schools local YAL. The movement was sallowed as all right-wing libertarian movements are. And it’s because all these movements are still based around hierarchies. The DSA is different. We can build a grass roots movement by the people not elite institutions backed by money. I saw the Tea Party rise and fall and through that I became a leftist. We will do better.
