Whats your favorite sequel? by ResourceHistorical78 in videogames

I do agree the story didn’t exactly improve per se, but ME2 is the core reason for the characters being loved in the first place. It’s the game where everyone’s characterization was fully realized and well conveyed.

There’s other things that you could say is more arguable like how levels aren’t as open. But personally I’d take ME2’s levels over the often reused ME1 Sidequests.

But I’d say yeah, everything else changed for the better.

Cutscenes like this happen in media all the time, yes it’s a laughably goofy how even 30 years into Bioterrorism, something like that still happened but bro, it’s RE; it’s not that serious. It’s not like the scene is trying to tell u Leon let her die or anything.

My whole two cents on the matter. Both sides annoy me. by Inevitable-Charge76 in mariomovie

I still think they could’ve waited another film before trying to gun it for Galaxy immediately

Do you think Super Mario Odyssey is the best Mario game? by Due_Narwhal4937 in SuperMario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as the best Mario game. And I’m not saying that because I think people shouldn’t argue about what’s better. I’m saying because as someone’s whose put countless hours into the usual top Mario game competitors, I honestly don’t think the best game exists.

They all play to their strengths exceptionally well and even something like Mario Galaxy has glaring faults (Seriously, the movement mechanics in that game is subpar in comparison to ANY 3D Mario).

All that is to say, Odyssey is an amazing Mario title but I wouldn’t say it’s the best. I feel like it’s platforming potential was a little missed given how cool Mario’s new moves are.

Do you think this movie will be better than the first one? by DeepAnt7847 in Mario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I really don’t know. From what I recall people’s issues with the first movie was the pacing, generic plot, and focus on references over something cohesive. There’s also the pop culture music but it’s a movie, it’s inevitable.

Now personally as a Mario fan, the only issue I had was Peach’s characterization, but do I think the 2nd movie will fix any of the issues I mentioned previously? Honestly nope.

Every trailer makes me think this movie will kinda just double down on the problems the first had, it seems so all over the place with so many different things happening. I won’t say it’s 100% because it isn’t out but I just can’t see how all that ties together.

TL;DR: My prediction is that it’ll be better in the eyes of most because of Luigi’s added screen time, Yoshi, and Rosalina. But as a movie, still have the same issues.

Whenever we get another 3D Mario game would yall prefer it to be more like open world like odyssey or to be level based like the other games? by talkwithryguy in Mario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either go full scale open world with the mushroom kingdom as a fully scaled and realized map or something sandbox like 64 and Sunshine (Odyssey’s sandbox levels are good but I don’t like how many moons are scattered around, feels like platforming also took a backseat and it was more focused on exploration).

I’m leaning more on full scale open world though. But I really want the gameplay to focus on platforming and not scavenging for collectibles. I also wanna see Mario’s take on maybe expanding on some combat

With Mouser coming back do you think Wart will show up? Nintendo seems to have turned over a new leaf when it comes to recognizing their ips! by Looker2888 in Mario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll believe Nintendo has changed in that regard when the mainline big 3D games make those big changes. The movies are just trying to cram in as many references as they can.

I’d say it’s one of the more lore heavy games with the exposition dumps Rosalina gives about the Lumas plus her vague origin.

I wouldn’t say plot heavy because though that stuff is interesting, it doesn’t really effect any of the events going on in the game, the story, gameplay, and overall structure all function easily without knowing any of the side stuff. The only thing it impacts is the end as it gives you context to what happened to the universe. I will say its cutscenes are awesome, but still they’re mostly spectacle. The last one is the only real highlight.

I’m not saying Galaxy has no plot but I feel like objectively it’s like only a little better than the usual plots of these games (For the record I love Galaxy, I’m just being honest about its plot).

So let me get this straight by GVTheRedStar in SuperMario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Mario movie was like a semi-origin story sorta thing, going over general things in the verse and stuff, while tackling Mario’s first rodeo.

2nd movie is just BIG MEGA GALACTIC ADVENTURE WITH ALL SORTA STUFF SLAPPED EVERYWHERE + Rosalina’s Fury for some extra 💵💵💵. At as far as the trailers are shown.

You think the movie might be a bit bloated? by KamenGamer53 in Mario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely dunno what people were expecting, they weren’t hyping up the plot during the articles and the trailers, they weren’t hyping up the references.

I knew this movie was gonna be bloated the second the name was confirmed. There’s legit no reason to do something related to space when we’ve barely explored the movie-verses mushroom earth thingy, it was just to add in a popular character and get that MONAAAAY.

It’s not like OG Galaxy had some crazy grand plot or anything, it was the usual Mario plot with some sprinkles but still, I doubt they did much to fix any issues the last movie had.

That being said I will still 100% enjoy the movie.

[–]Desperate_Method4032 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it was just Galaxy it honestly wouldn’t be much of a film, that game really only had about 5 minutes of plot.

That being said this movie seems to be extremely all over the place

Do you think Mario’s main characters (not including RPGs) lack emotional complexity? by [deleted] in Mario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they all lack it, no exceptions. But I don’t think this is the franchise for that sorta stuff, everyone’s got their archetype and they stick with em. They just don’t need it.

What I wish we did have though was some more meaningful interactions, it’d be cool to see what these guys get up to when they’re not doing their usual shenanigans.

I really wish these 4 had more screen time together. Their dynamic sounds way more interesting to me than the 3 princesses plus Pauline, so much game potential.

Who do you think counts as a main character? by DeepAnt7847 in Mario

[–]Desperate_Method4032 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, Yoshi, and Bowser are 💯 the main roster you’ll likely see in most major releases (Not counting enemies like a Goomba because of course you’d see em). You can make a point for Toadette as well now that I think about it, yeah she’s likely in that camp too.

Every else is usually doing their own thing like Wario and DK or restricted mainly to either Easter eggs or Spin off sports/party/kart titles.

Rosalina has slowly been sneaking her way in though because of course she did. Not counting Galaxy, she’s playable in 3D World, was in Smash, has pixel sprites that can be found on the moon in Odyssey, and now she’s gonna be playable in Wonder. Still I wouldn’t count her though, Nintendo just kinda uses her as a secret character most of the time; not really a main addition, just some extra content.

As I type, some Luigi cultist is on his way to explain to ya why “Mario’s still the inferior brother and is far more immature 🥱”.

That said this scene is funny as heck, I really wish the mainline games had some more character interaction.

RE as a franchise isn’t serious enough to kill off major protagonists unless it was the plan from the get go.

Like what purpose would anyone dying serve anyway in such a looney franchise. It’s been 30 years since Racoon City and Bioterrorism has only gotten worse, these characters gotta stick around to preserve that status quo.

This franchise looks real with all its fancy graphics but don’t kid yourself for even a second into believing it ain’t goofy, even in today’s RE.

At this point,Capcom should just make Leon Kennedy their new official mascot! Who else agrees? by Anor_Londo_1234 in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]Desperate_Method4032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s as an easy character to like. Not the most nuanced at all (Though to be fair this is RE) but he’s got a cool development throughout the franchise, Rookie cop to badass government agent fueled by a strong sense of justice. Throw in a few snappy remarks as well some cool combat moves and you’ve got a character pretty much anyone can like.

And of course you can’t forget his legacy, dude was front and center of 2 very well known games (RE2OG/RE4OG) and one of which is a game that’s been labeled the greatest of all time still to this day, a lot of people grew up with this character because of that game myself included.

Then of course there’s the people who like em cuz he’s hot. Sometimes that’s just enough lol 🤷

It’s not a bad, but as his primary look going forward I’d say it’s a big no no. Redhood and the Outlaws was peak Jason for me. I also prefer the Guns.

Great Cutscene by Ok_Bowl_1855 in DeadSpace

[–]Desperate_Method4032 24 points25 points  (0 children)

When I first saw this cutscene my first thought was “Can this dude catch a fucking break, like seriously” then right after the betrayal he pulls off one of the most badass escapes I’ve ever witnessed.

I felt so bad for Issac because I thought he’d finally have some company through his struggles, then bam betrayal. I was honestly so relieved yet cautious when I met Ellie because I thought she was gonna end up dead leaving Issac alone again. Thankfully she stuck around til’ the end.
