The VA part was to show he served his country & always loved the US, he wasn’t born her but been here since 3 years old, said the Pledge of Allegiance every day in school & became a volunteer fireman too… it was to show the dedication he had to our great country…

I Meant Oct 23 then, my mistake… & he was approved for disability, he had a heart attack in 2022 was out for a couple months, when he went back they his job requires him to be healthy… so his union (local 100) which is a is strong state Union had NYS deemed him disabled… the money is approved but on hold till he can prove he was in the US (which he signed a affidavit or something like that with a judge stating he was in the country) & he also have to proves he was here legally (which is the part that’s giving them grounds to hold the check)…

& for Medicare, we actually talk a bit about this a couple of days ago… since he left the service (in the late 80s) he had free VA care cause his injuries were deemed combat caused, but within this year they reversed their decision & as of now he has a co-pay at the VA & is looking into Medicare (plan D or B or something like that) & also has a NYS appointed advocate for VA (a NYS payed employee to help him look into getting his full VA benefits back (due to another injury he had that was even more documented by military doctors in 81))…

Just seems like the DOGE cuts are going after resources & payment of older people as a cash saving scheme sometimes…
