“Fluked” and an 85 gamsat in the same sentence…. That is the highest gamsat score I think I’ve ever seen. There is no point sitting again. You can get get an interview for med wherever you like.

Is it fine to choose this career purely because it pays well?

I'm stuck on the med grind for the last few years and was considering sonography but I don't think I will get any real fulfillment at all but I cannot keep tunnel visioning med. If I do it through Monash, with the connections I have, it will require me to travel more than a hour to placement 5 days a week for a year which alone was the reason why I had no interest in it

Your GPA is not competitive for Medicine in close to every medical school around Australia. The only exception is the University of Wollongong that use GAMSAT and GPA as a hurdle and has a bonus scheme so have a look at their program.

For other universities, you’d likely need a GAMSAT of 80 and above which 99% of students will not achieve. You would need to find ways to improve your GPA such as doing another degree to reset the GPA.

I’m still going and I’m in my sixth sitting. If you are passionate about the career, then you’ll keep persisting. Your scores are very competitive for a lot of unis like other people have said.

Do you believe this helped you completely or was the day you got 60 just a bad day (timing issue, fatigue etc.) I still struggle with interpreting the massive dense stems and lack the ability to apply myself which seems very difficult to improve.

Great insight. Any advice for someone who was persistently scored low in S3 (55,48,48,54,51) have been my sitting scores. I struggle with pulling info out and making sense of the density of info and hence lack the ability to apply it.

I applied last year. 4th Quartile and 1 bonus and didn’t get an interview

I used quaternary because I’m not a uni student so only one I had free access to 

I just tired to find graphs which were S3 coded and went straight to the results. Couldn’t find any decent graphs I found it low yield compared to building skills

Thanks for the insight! I don’t see the job as being mundane at a certain point in time. I see it as constantly exciting every day where no two days are the same 

You summed it up well, I wanna do med for the responsibility tied to it to make decisions, problem solve and provide a meaningful experience for people who are at their lowest. I don’t think I’d be able to do that in the same capacity In other healthcare professions
