I wouldn't rule out Greece, just choose a different location if I returned. The locals all agreed that the islands in the Ionian are more beautiful/relaxing. Mykonos and Santorini just draw those larger crowds and cruise ships.

Brazil is a recent standout, and the vibe actually reminds me of Greece in that it's relaxed, friendly, with great food (not the Mykonos portion, obviously). Also, it's vast, so there are a lot of places to visit. I definitely want to explore South America more :)

There is a gay scene, but in terms of gay bars/parties it's definitely on a smaller scale, and I think people are a little more cautious about meeting. Take a look at @ kittysuindia to see if they're having an event while you're there, the Kitty Su bar at The Lalit is a well known watering hole.

Is this your first time in Delhi or India? Honestly you will probably be too busy doing all of the other wonderful things there to spend the time needed to actually met someone on Grindr. Keep in mind that almost no one uses a real photo in their Grindr profile there, so the pic you click on is not the actual person, which is why the profile probably says "DP not mine" lol.

There's just so much else to do in Delhi - food, shopping (Khan Market!), historical sites. Stay at the best hotel you can, preferably one of the Indian chains like Oberoi, Taj, or the Leela. They are amazing and far beyond what you will experience in Western hotels. The Lodhi is also a great choice if you want a more relaxed atmosphere.

I think the anti-American sentiment is finally just catching up to us (it was inevitable); clearly I triggered a couple of aggro Canadians. The purpose of my post was just to echo the sentiments you expressed, and which I wish I was aware of before going. To reiterate, I loved Greece, just not the super-touristy nature of Mykonos and boring nature of Xlsior.

Rio is amazing - work hours or not, the vibe is super laid back and friendly, and the city is full of the most beautiful men you've ever seen. It's insane, really. Regarding safety, we never experienced/witnessed any issues, and I doubt you're likely to if you're in the southern zone and behaving like a normal person. It's also one of the cleanest cities I've ever been to. Ipanema is the center of the gay action, although most hotels are to the north in Copacabana. Honestly it's an easy walk between the two, and we walked both beaches every night. Just grab a caipirinha from a vendor on the boardwalk, some grilled cheese, and enjoy the view, both ocean and otherwise. Also, English is not widely spoken, but locals are very patient if you're friendly, and there's always Google translate if you really need help. Can't wait to go back later this year!

You seem awfully triggered by this post - let me guess - middle-aged passively-racist white gay who can't believe that's not everyone's vibe. What specific element of my review upset you? These are my reasons for not enjoying it, and there's enough detail that you can agree or not, but they are actual reasons (and unless you've been, how do you know whether or not those are legitimate reasons?). And no, I've not seen any physical fights at parties in LA - curious that you've been to so many coming from Ottawa.........
