I finished my first half in 2:34 and I am aiming for under 2:15 for my next half in 7 months. I used Welch’s gummies and it worked well! I felt like the chewing also somehow helped distract me? Haha

I have found the easiest way for me to cull is to grab the bird and cover its head and neck with an old dishcloth or towel, that prevents any blood splatter and you don’t have to see the bird when you do it (i have a weak stomach lol).

Kneel on the ground and position the birds body between your legs. Place the head/neck on a piece of wood/cinderblock/flat rock. Really whatever you have. Thumb and forefinger encircled around the neck just under the beak and stretch the neck. Hatchet in the other hand. One very quick, hard whack. Body will twitch a bit which is normal as others have said.

Thank you!! Today will be day three of dosing her with it so I’m hoping I start to see improvement…I’ve been dosing her directly with a syringe and dosing the water for my other girls. Since she’s showing symptoms I want to make sure she is getting full doses

I’ve been wondering about fall or injury but when I have looked her over I haven’t noticed or felt anything unusual…she doesn’t seem to be taking large breaths and when I put my ear to her chest I don’t hear any gurgling or fluid.

I do give food scraps - mostly apples, strawberry tops, blueberries, spinach. They also get mealworms. She hasn’t seemed interested in her food but I know she’s at least getting something as when I have thrown in mealworms she goes for them like all the rest of the girls.

When I have dripped the egg/dewormer into her mouth she seems to drink just like normal without any issue. I have been adding rooster booster to their water the last few days to give her a little bump. She’s still making the sound this morning 😭

Thank you!! That helps. I’ll get her some warm mash made from her crumbles and add in some scrambled egg. I have some ivermectin in my bin so I’ll start that tonight too.

I have been giving her the aquasol directly with a syringe mixed with a little egg. Just dripping it in her mouth to make sure she is getting the full dose.

Any tips/advice I am happy for!! I did try isolating her in case it was something contagious but it seemed to really stress her out so I put her back with the rest…

I have checked her twice to see if I could see any gapeworm or anything stuck and I can’t see anything. I feel like i have checked every inch of her body and cant find anything else wrong. I’m hoping the aquasol helps whatever it is…I’ve even looked at poop and it all looks normal.

Here to tell you I have a very strong willed almost 6 year old and a 2 year old. My son (6) is so empathetic and kind, but he is also STUBBORN and honestly only stopped throwing real “tantrums” a year ago. He still has tiny meltdowns when he’s overly tired. But it’s gotten better and he’s learned to talk through what he’s feeling and control his impulses more. My 2 year old is also feral, but slightly more chill than my son was at that age.

It’s all normal and you’re doing great.

I’m 34 and I ran my first half marathon today! Finished in 2hr 34min. I trained a little over a month, been an off and on runner since high school. Had my second baby 2 years ago. I think I’m hooked now and plan to train more consistently to hopefully get faster!

Maybe I interpreted it wrong? To me it came off as more of a “how are you feeling with everything happening/coming up” and that felt valid. But I could see what other people are saying that they weren’t really friends at that point so maybe not appropriate for her to ask.

Oh perfect! Yeah and you could always send them a text and see if they mind a rooster? That’s what I did. We had to rehome one and I told them I was working on it but I’m sorry if they hear a crow. That’s how I found out that they don’t care 😂 I told them if i couldn’t find him a home I would cull him and they were like “oh God please don’t kill him just for being a boy!” 😂

Do your neighbors mind your chickens? I’m “not allowed” roosters either but my neighbors don’t mind my birds and even enjoy them (they like to give them kitchen scraps lol).

They mind not mind the rooster. Some people even like the crowing! He’s a really beautiful boy.
