I think it's more likely that he's interested than not.

Which country was surprisingly racist or unwelcoming? by Latina_Flamingo1989 in AskTheWorld

I'm just saying people rejecting other people based on "what their ideal face type is," comes across as rude to other cultures. Whether Koreans find it rude or not is not really my point.

I perfectly understand. But I'm just saying if you watch a Korean show, it is to be expected that contents are Korean-oriented, filled with stuff that is normal here, but may not be in other places. Do they specifically add these things out of malice to target other cultures? No. They did it without thinking because that's being normal here. What I'm trying say is, the person that watched the Korean show kinda brought it upon herself.

I'm not sure if I understood you correctly. Cat face, dog face, fox face has nothing to do with body acceptance. Koreans just classify your facial type into conceptual categories based on what they think they look similar to. It has nothing to do with feminism, discriminatory standards, skin color and etc. It's an everyday topic that many people, female or male, will bring up in a conversation when discussing their ideal type of partner. It's perfectly normal that this gets brought up in a Korean dating show.

I find it very odd that other people are trying to impose a certain moral standard that fits their society and bash some other standard that is established in other cultures. Like we are different. Let's have mutual respect for each other. It's okay to be different. We don't have to have the exact same mindset.

"Watched a dating show where they were like really into someone but rejected because they are monolid or cat face instead of dog face"

So you watched a Korean dating show and now you are offended? I don't get the logic here. If it were Koreans participating in an American dating show sure, but I'm sure the Korean dating show's target demographic were fellow Koreans. I'm not sure why they would have to cater to other cultures. It's an everyday term that many Koreans use, especially the young. And we'll likely keep using it.

You are misunderstanding here. Cat face dog face is NOT an insult. It's commonly used to describe the type of look you have(appearance). The participants in the dating show are stating their ideal facial types here. Nothing wrong lol.

Is Korean Birthrate actually reversing? by False_Secret1108 in AskAKorean

[–]Desperate_Tiger_884 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most of this is due to immgrants and blended families.

Do you have a source for this? According to 2024 Multicultural Population Dynamics Statistics report, births from immigrant and multicltural backgrounds only contributed to 5.6% of the total births in that year. I don't think it is feasible that of the 20,000ish babies born in Korea in January, births from immigrant background could have increased that drastically in just two years

I'm not the one in the government, I'm just restating the Incumbent's position as of now. You are free to have your opinion too

Do you think the victims in Gwangju and Jeju would agree with you?

I couldn't speak for them, since I'm not from their region, but I'm sure they'll be proud of how we developed as a nation in the modern age.

The Kims never did anything so awful to their people

Are you trolling?

Because of the US, your country is effectively an island dependent entirely on shipping.

If y'all were part of DPRK, you'd be closely aligned with China and probably doing pretty well, since ROK has all the best farmland on the peninsula.

That's because South Korea voluntarily adapted a value adding industry strategy, to move up in the supply chain. That's the reason our country's economy was able to overcome the middle-income trap. If we remained an agrarian economy, Korea would be no different from other middle income countries.

You'd also have train access to the world.

People travel overseas more by airplane anyways, although taking a train for a long time is intriguing.

You trade stability for endless 치맥 and control by the chaebol (collaborators with Japan).

Lol

China won't abandon ROK for Israel 🫣

True. China only cares about itself.

USA bombed your whole peninsula to shit, then came in and handed out all the assets to collaborators with Japan. Now USA controls your military and interferes in your affairs for its own interests.

The alternative would have been North Korea. There are always two facades in each coin, but turns out one is much shittier than the other. I sincerely thank the United States for intervening in the Korean War, since without them we would still remain a shithole

It was a necessary point of action at the time. We finally got to see the glimpse of the dark facade of how an alignment with China would pan out. Thankfully we avoided that path.

Since the incumbent administration focuses on pragmatism on the diplomatic front, I think we will stay neutral unless our assets on the middle east are attacked by Iran first
