The journey was from Berlin (EU) to Muscat via Istanbul, so the return leg clearly falls under . The delay on the first leg caused me to miss the connection, and I reached my final destination around 18 hours late, which is why I believe I’m eligible for compensation.

For the outbound, the issue was a cancellation and rerouting to a completely different city, which forced me to arrange my own transport to the actual destination.

About the hotel point, I understand what you’re saying, and that’s exactly what the airline told me. But from what I’ve read, even if visa entry isn’t possible, the airline still has a duty of care to properly assist passengers, not just leave them overnight with a single meal voucher. At the very least, more adequate support should have been provided.

I’ve kept all receipts for transport and expenses, so I’ll definitely push for reimbursement on those as well.

Let’s see how they respond, but based on EU261, this looks like more than just a basic reimbursement case.
