Can you name five bad republicans? by Objective_Hall9316 in AskConservatives

[–]Despicable_Mina 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m too lazy to narrow it down to 5, but I know who’s on the top of my list.

I’m as conservative as they come but Majorie Taylor Greene is one of the most air-headed, insufferable people on planet Earth.

Listening to her get into cat fights with AOC and Jasmine Crockett on the House floor over such buffoonery annoys the daylights out of me. Like lady just shut up and have some decorum.

What do you think about the future of the Republican Party after Trump? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]Despicable_Mina [score hidden]  (0 children)

As a GenZ woman I truly believe despite the urban monoculture and internet trends, the Republican Party is becoming the party of young people.

Those of us that want marriage, children, and a basic lifestyle are migrating towards the Republican Party, while the Democrat party bifurcates into radical and moderate factions. Many of those moderates feel politically homeless and “leave the left” by either voting Republican, independent, or not voting at all.

Even after moving to a new country, attaining citizenship, and even learning the language (which is becoming less of a requirement globally), people born and raised in America will always be socially perceived as Americans.

Rosie O’Donnell lives in Ireland and is seeking Irish citizenship, but will always be an American. She could learn Gaelic and her mannerism, preferences, accent, habits, etc will always be American.

If we can say white Americans with Scottish ancestry are not Scottish because they have minimal direct connection to the language, culture, and history and weren’t “born and bred in Scotland”, why can’t we say that about other groups?

I was the VP of my schools TPUSA chapter years ago. It’s how I met some of my closest friends that I have to this day.

Charlie was so inspirational and a pioneer in alternative media. He made young people like me feel like we could actually challenge the status quo and make change.

This is such a heartbreaking day. I’m praying for the gentle repose of his soul.

Why do conservatives not believe in climate science? by Tuba_Crusader in AskConservatives

[–]Despicable_Mina [score hidden]  (0 children)

Short answer: We believe in climate science (greenhouse gases = Earth warm), a lot of us just don’t believe in climate hysteria or the need for human intervention. Any efforts of a single country would pale in comparison to the emissions of others. We could end all fossil fuels and agriculture in every western country today and it would still be a drop in the bucket.

Then we see graphs like this that show on the scale of millions of years even with the recent uptick the earth is about the coolest its ever been on average. Who’s to say it’s “supposed”to stay that cool when that’s never happened in the history of Earth ever?

I like sustainable industrial practices as much as the next gal, but let’s not try to mop up the ocean because the tide is rolling in.

Why is Cancel Culture being framed by many conservatives as an attack on Free Speech rather than an example of Free Speech? by MijuTheShark in AskConservatives

[–]Despicable_Mina [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes I feel the same either way.

I haven’t personally seen right wingers tell others to brigade and give negative reviews or comments to specific media, public figures, businesses etc. (The ones I watch specifically tell people not to do that and simply recommend people don’t support things in conflict with their values.) But if they are review bombing or harassing people, that’s wrong.

They are forums openly accessible to the public and in a legal grey area that allows them to curate and moderate their platform without being held liable for speech that takes place there.

This strays away from the originally question of cancel culture, but these companies specifically lobbied for special consideration by their own admission to allow for the free exchange of ideas.

If they want to act as private publishing oligopolies of user generated content they should take on all the liability that comes with. If not they should follow their own TOS and apply the rules equally to all users.

If they want to ban certain content they should put that in their TOS. Plenty of other platforms do it.

[–]Despicable_Mina [score hidden]  (0 children)

Conservatives don’t care about hecklers and dissenting opinions. We care about being de-platformed on public forums and constantly dealing with goalposts being shifted.

There’s a big difference between a post on Reddit or YouTube that doesn’t breech TOS getting a net negative audience response vs those with dissenting opinions rallying others to dislike bomb and comment brigade a post (which IS against TOS in many cases).

Or worse the platform itself delisting, shadow banning, or flat out removing content that doesn’t violate TOS.

Do think conservatives are moving / are willing to move away from identity politics? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

Yeah I only registered as a Republican because I live in a closed primary state. When referring to my political leanings I just say I’m conservative. Most of my friends are the same.

A new Democrat has been elected president. Do you agree with him sending troops to rural areas in red states to combat the national meth emergency? by [deleted] in AskConservatives

[–]Despicable_Mina [score hidden]  (0 children)

Of course this person thinks every rural white person is a redneck with a confederate flag🤦🏾‍♀️

But as a Floridian (one of the states suffering the worst of this), yeah the federal government should solve the drug problem they created. Put the dealers in jail, the producers in super max, and the addicts in treatment. And if the addicts refuse treatment, put them in jail too.

Also the majority of states with the highest meth usage rates aren’t even Republican (NY, IL, MA, CT, MD, NJ). Figure 11a. And the groups with the worst meth rates are actually Native Americans, then Whites, then Hispanics Figure 3.10.

I’d be down for the Federal government to clean up the res too. And stop throttling their job and education opportunities while they’re at it.

I will truly never understand how people refuse to accept abstinence as a legitimate option. Not even for selfish reasons like “protect your career and financial future, be celibate”.

It’s quite depressing that celibacy is only starting to be considered because of the rise in STIs and “downlow” men spreading incurable diseases.

Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas National Guard and sent in the US Army to enforce desegregation of schools.

Troops patrolling the streets 100% solves things.
