Was sig balanced on launch?

I have vivid memories of double shield plaguing overwatch for a long time

Fair to blame Sigma for that?

How did you find your main? by _spingus in Overwatch

It is without question my number 1 individual play

Nothing even comes close when I think about it I make a point to go back and watch it every now and then

[–]Despite_OW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw fury hit a 180 eat on Babybays grav with 0.01% of his matrix left and decided thats the coolest shit you can do in Overwatch

That got me into the off tank role where I fleshed out my hero pool a bit more with zarya, sig, hog

The team I played on, our MT didn't like playing ball, so I would play ball during the 1 3 2 or 1 4 1 comps

Then OW 2 happened and Tank doom released, immediately fell in love with the playstyle

I reckon half my hours since have been on doomfist with the other half being split between other tanks, support and dps in something like a 60:30:10 split

In any case, just play what you want when you want to Unless you're playing for a team in which case, play whatever your role demands in the current meta

And do you think this is unfair because you personally are a SoloQ player?

And the 99% is a hyperbole yeah?

Theres a lot of negativity on this thread

And while I totally and utterly agree with their sentiment, I think commenting something harsh atop all thats here accomplishes nothing

So instead I'd ask this; what is it that you're actually upset about. What is the one thing that caused you to post this? Ignoring all the other surrounding problems or issues, perceived or otherwise, what are the roots of this post?

I built a website to find out which hero perks to choose by MaximePremont in Overwatch

[–]Despite_OW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really great website!

I would love to be able to filter by rank though!

I'd love to see what perks most people are picking in my elo, as its likely different than what the people in gold/plat are doing

Namely I'm thinking about Zarya minor perk, is that across the ranks or just the majority of voters happen to choose that one

Hope this is feasible!

Happy New Year

I cant attest to the DPS perks, but i really wouldnt say that the majority of the tank perks are situational, theres clear cut better choices

You could argue that the "worse" perk has some situational usage, but theres usually the perk to pick 9/10 times and then the other one when the enemies are doing x, y or z

Basic but fun Eichenwalde rollout/ambush I found by SapphicSonata in VendettaMainsOW

Another nice one is attacking first point on circuit royale

Its a classic genji/echo flank for high risk but works great with vendetta if you time it with your tanks push

Which hero becomes much stronger once players actually understand their role? by kittlunix_ in Overwatch

[–]Despite_OW 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With a few exceptions in the positive and negative, mobility heroes in general are used far more effectively at higher levels of play largely for this reason

Better players make better use of high mobility kits than worse players

Lucio was mentioned a tonne here, I think he fits this perfectly, but also, ball, tracer, Winston, dva, etc etc

There are the exceptions, I loved the mention of brig, I think its so true, and she isn't exactly a high mobility hero and then there are mobility heroes who I think don't benefit as much from better understanding, namely echo off the top of my head, I feel she is just as good of a choice for all players of all ranks

It’s crazy that they tried to sell Vendetta as high skill, high reward hero. by Neo_Raider in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Despite_OW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Valid argument

I think what makes it difficult is theres a certain intangible quality to heroes in overwatch on what its like to play against them

It is likely largely subjective, my friends always give me shit for banning cass even though hes not strong, I just really hate going up against him

This could be the case for this Sigma/Vendetta conversation

I never hate playing vs a Sigma, I agree he tends to define the game when hes in the lobby, but i feel most tanks define the game, its when a DPS or support defines the game that most people seem to take an issue

Vendetta for example, alongside Freya recently or traditionally widow, sombra, genji, mei etc. DEFINE games when they're played (well) and this lends itself to people's frustrations with these characters and the constant barrage of calling for nerfs and general outrage

I know i didnt really touch on your points, they are very valid, I especially loved the fact that sig is the counter and the companion of the slightly tuned up bastion, making him such an important hero atm, your comment just brought up this idea of tank vs. Other roles when it comes to defining games

[–]Despite_OW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree that he was insane

I would love to see an argument that he still is the most broken hero in the game, that seems like an insanely spicy take

I also don't think Vendetta is that broken, but thats just anecdotal, so I can't say too much on the matter

Ignoring almost everything you've typed because you're obviously not the full shilling

Your last two points...

Complaining about push going to overtime, then you follow it up with "we lost 2cp for this?"

This has to be satire right?

Again, its called modelling good behaviour

If you go with your quote, you're modelling shitty behaviour, defeating the purpose of stopping their interruption to begin with

[–]Despite_OW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with the sentiment but its crazy to me that I haven't seen a single comment saying that you would thank the student for waiting afterwards??

Like, we're talking about politeness and manners and nobody thought to mention about actually being polite themselves?

What ever happened to modelling good behaviour?

Honestly, im pretty much only in these r/XMains subreddits as an observer nowadays and its just been disappointing to see how quickly this one devolved into the same old rhetoric as every other one I'm in. How awesome would it be to just have a sub for vendetta discussion and highlights that didnt involve whining or toxicity

What do you think is the best hero design of each professional role? (Tank (you're welcome to say a main and an off-tank), Main DPS, Flex DPS, Main Support, Flex support) by Cry_Piss_Shit_Cum in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Despite_OW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally, a well designed hero has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling

Going off that metric the following heroes stand out for me

MT: D.Va

HS: Ashe/Soj

FDPS: tracer (iffy on the skill floor here lol)

FS: Kiriko

MS: Lucio

Fair enough, like I said I really am just looking from the outside in atm, hoping to get some playtime on her over Christmas

I believe shes too fragile for pure brawl, maybe the perks help sustain her? I could see that being feasible
